I found this site earlier today, seems quite a comprehensive series looking at river and lake carp fishing through the year. Plenty of tackle info though they obviously steer the reader towards their own tackle range. You will need Google Translate unless you have fluent french! I started with the river article, but when you reach the bottom right a link to the next article appears.... edit, just realised there is a language selection on their top header! https://prowess-fishing.com/peche-en-riviere-se-perfectionner/ Great for beginners but there should be something there for everyone ..read more

Carp Pirates Adventures

A few times last year I was passed by on the river Lot by a custom built angling boat, Carp Pirates Adventures. I only recently found out the owner of this business lives about a five minute drive from me. Sally and I met up with him in Limogne and he came across as a genuine and enthusiastic angler, busy renovating a property but he is still finding time to catch carp himself. I think I have done a little to promote the river Lot fishing on a few forums, it really is fantastic! From what I have seen of David and his boat I would recommend the outfit as a luxury fishing option for anyone co ..read more

I can’t believe it…. I got a message to say I’d been mentioned in the Outlaw Pro draw on YouTube, (AnAverageAngler, my YouTube handle) so I went and looked at it and I’ve only won 100kgs of their bait I’m unsure of the quality of the bait but until I receive it who knows. It looks like my son and a mate or two may not need to buy any carp bait this year ..read more

Consistent rig lengths & mechanics

Hi all, I struggle to keep my rig lengths consistent and to understand the mechanics of rigs, how they work, situations to use them etc. I tend to use basic hair rig with a running lead setup all the time as I don't have confidence, or the knowledge in other more complex presentations. Is there a resource I can dip into for this kind of information ..read more

Best Fishing Technique For Bass & Reel Recommendation Under $200

Bass fishing is a popular pastime for many anglers, and finding the best technique and gear can make all the difference in your success on the water. When it comes to bass fishing techniques, one of the most effective is using a soft plastic bait on a Texas rig. This involves rigging a plastic worm or creature bait weedless on a hook with a bullet weight above it, allowing it to be fished through heavy cover without snagging. In terms of gear, a quality spinning reel is essential for this technique. One great option for under $200 is the Shimano Stradic Ci4+. This reel is lightweight and durab ..read more

Anyone using one of these? I like the idea of it, but have heard mixed reports of how well the drawstring system works and whether it's padded enough. If anyone's using one, I'd appreciate their imput ..read more

Only recently got into carp fishing and pilsworth is closest venue for me to do a 2 day session on so just wondering if any of you guys have ever fished the carp lake before and if so are there any recomendations on how to tackle the venue? Went today to have a good look around and spent a couple of hours trying to identify the best spots to target. Not any visual features that jump out at you and no carp signs of any discription i could see from 2 hours scouring the lake although a mass of bream were showing in the margins all down one side in spawning mode. If anyone has fished here before ..read more

Big pit or large baitrunner

Hi all. Not that clued up on carp fishing and what I do know is from years and years back. I still have 2 x 3lb test curve carp rods. They are 12 foot long and fast action. I do not have any reels for these rods. Would you suggest to go for larger baitrunners such as 10000 series or big pit reels? I don't know what would balance better on the rods. When I bought them years back they were considered heavy but now their considered the norm. So I'm kinda stuck on what size reels would be best. Mickb ..read more

Floating carp pellets

I usually fish for carp with just a floating dog biscuit about 12mm in diameter. It's a simple method as all I have on the line is a hook and the bait. I can cast it about ten yards without having to use a float. For various reasons the owners have banned the use of floating baits. I'm still allowed to fish with a buoyant bait providing it's not floating on the surface. I wonder if it would be worth trying a zig rig. The average depth is about 5 or 6 feet, so I'd fish with the floater about a foot below the surface. I've never used a zig, have members any advice on using one ..read more
