My brother gave me this Pedersoli Hawken to use in the early muzzleloader season this year, it's a 50 bore from land to land and has a 1 in 48 twist. The question is, does anybody have one and what do you find shoots best conical or patched round balls? I figure to start with 70 grains of Pyrodex RS Select and not go anything more than 80 grs. as it doesn't have a hooked breech. Thanks ..read more

I have a Traditions flintlock Pa pellet with select hardwood stock and double set triggers. Is this a good gun? Is it reliable? I had an older one that failed to ignite the flashpan powder on a consistent basis. This one seems to ignite the power every time. It is fairly accurate. Is it worth the money that they are asking for it ..read more

I have two T/C Hawken flintlocks. I've often thought about converting one to percussion for practice/target shooting. Keeping one as flintlock to be legal in late season. Or, if it's easy enough, swap out the same gun. Is it as easy as swapping out the lock? Or is it a complete PIA ..read more

Has anyone ever tried to put a patch box on a synthetic stock? I have a traditions dear hunter flintlock with a plastic stock i would like to install a patch box, would this work or be a bad idea ..read more

I decided for this winter's project to build a "youth flintlock". I wanted something that had a shorter barrel (less weight, easier for young kids (boys or girls....I got both grandkids) to hold and balance. I'm just starting so this will take some time.
Since I had laying around a CVA percussion 50 cal barrel hanging out in my garage for about 15 years.....I figured maybe this would be a good time to do something with it.

Just finished a Kibler 54 Cal. Woodsrunner. Green Mountain 1 in 70 twist barrel. Single trigger. Finish is with Iron Nitrate and neutralized. Around ten coats of Chambers oil. PM for details ..read more
