My brother gave me this Pedersoli Hawken to use in the early muzzleloader season this year, it's a 50 bore from land to land and has a 1 in 48 twist. The question is, does anybody have one and what do you find shoots best conical or patched round balls? I have a Traditions flintlock Pa pellet with select hardwood stock and double set triggers. Is this a good gun? Is it reliable? I had an older one that failed to ignite the flashpan powder on a consistent basis. This one seems to ignite the power every time. It is fairly accurate. I decided for this winter's project to build a "youth flintlock". I wanted something that had a shorter barrel (less weight, easier for young kids (boys or girls....I got both grandkids) to hold and balance. I'm just starting so this will take some time.
