My 4-5 month old budgie Skye won't eat or drink anything. I noticed it about two days ago. I have given him chop and he won't eat more than a few bites I tried pellets as well. I got desperate and even gave him a bowl of seed and he only ate a couple seeds! I have not seen him drinking either. Of course not every bird lets you watch them drink. What is wrong ..read more

I have a conure that is displaying breeding behavior and need some oil to put on top of her food to help the egg through. I live very rural and have limited supplies. I need wheat germ oil but only have extra virgin olive oil. That’s all I have. Would a couple drops on her seed be safe to use? I’m too far from any store at present. JS ..read more

Hii, My bird loves her chop but this morning I gave her the last portion from the batch I had. I don't really have time to make new chop for her today because I have a deadline for some school work today. I can make a new batch tomorrow in the afternoon but that would mean she doesn't have chop tomorrow morning (I still need to go to the store for her too). I'm kinda hoping one of you will know how I can still give her enough nutrition tomorrow without having the chop ready. Can I just... Chop problems ..read more

Hi, Vet visit is booked in 12 hrs so have to cope overnight. This morning have come to greet my B&G Macaw and she was acting weird, stopped talking no sounds and just sat on perch not moving, mouth slightly open, very lethargic. She was breathing really weird, only thing I can explain it like is breathing fast like some one having anxiety attack, it's kind of laboured if that makes sense. No discharge, no sneezing or coughing or clicking. Offered food and water and didn't take any, had a... Macaw acting weird! (sad update post #20 ..read more

Hi all! Not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot but I am looking into getting a bird. I grew up with parrots in the house but I was never the primary responsible party and my boyfriend has never been around parrots. That being said, I am trying to narrow down the best parrot for us. I know that I want large parrot, and so far my top pick is a yellow naped amazon and my boyfriend's is an African grey. Cockatoo is on the board but I had initially decided against them due to their... Amazon, African Grey, Cockatoo ..read more

Hi, I have heard that UV light bulbs should be changed once or twice a year because they don't emit UV after a while. If this is correct it would mean that my UV light is but a standard lamp after 6 to 12 months, right? Can it be used for plants? Has any of you tried it ..read more
