How to mount the gopro 12 (underwater case)

So I just purchased a gopro 12, along with the underwater case. The pic shows my current setup. I want to mount the gopro between the lights. I was looking at a double ball mount with a butterfly, but it would raise the camera too high above lights. I'm also thinking I could drill out one of the gopro mounts. I am open to suggestions ..read more

Diving Silfra - Which Colour Filter?

Hi, I'm hoping to have the chance to dive Silfra (Iceland) this summer, and want to use my GoPro to capture my dives. I'm not sure which colour filter I'd be best using though - red or magenta? I know red's normally best for blue water (tropical) and magenta for green (cold), but due to the purity of the water in Silfra I'm not sure what I should expect in terms of water colour and therefore which colour filter's going to be my best bet. Any advice? Thanks, Neil ..read more

Fixed mount GoPro 12 suggestions

I like what I have read about the GoPro 12 so I am leaning heavily in that direction. I am a new diver and want something with a fixed mount that I don't have to handle or mess with underwater that might catch some of what I've seen. I've been with "that guy" diving through his camera that goes above, under, and into everyone around him to get "the shot". I don't want to be that guy. A friend has a mask mount but I have a single plane glass mask so that isn't an option. It was hard... Read more ..read more

Suggested settings for a GoPro 12 Black being dropped into 60 metres of clear tropical water?

I'm going to be dropping a GoPro Hero 12 Black on a rope into 60 metres of clear tropical water to hopefully get some footage of a wreck. There will be two reasonably sized LED video lights providing the lighting. Does anyone have any suggestions for settings for this? I am still waiting for the GoPro to arrive so I don't even know what setting options it has ..read more

I singed up for an U/W videography course. Now I have to choose housing, lights, etc. Tell me what you like and don't like.

I'll use a GoPro. Based on what I read here and on Reddit, this aluminum Isotta housing seems like a winner. Isotta GoPro Hero12, Hero 11, Hero 10, Hero 9 Black Underwater Housing What about lights? I wonder if I can choose lights that can do double duty as my backup lights on night dives, wreck penetration dives, and other low visibility dives. What do you suggest apart from housing and light? What would you tell me to avoid ..read more

If I snorkel down to 25 feet and used a snorkel filter which is more of a pink filter instead of a red would that be a better option. Or do I go with re, it’s for a GoPro. Thank you ..read more

GoPro and correct filter usage

I bought a GoPro 12 and the polar pro filter set. I am new to snorkeling and videography. I have a snorkeling excursion to Biscayne National Park.one of the sites is Brewster Reef which the dive company said 25 feet in depth. I assume since I’m just snorkeling I would need the red filter which is rated at 15-70 feet. There is a snorkeling filter that is goood for 2-15 feet. Which one would be best. Also is snorkeling to 25 feet as a newbie a safe option. Thank you for your thoughts ..read more

GPLog - I am a believer

During the past couple of years as I've been working on my cave diving videos I've struggled with green videos, despite setting my WB to the color temperature of my lights and setting the color profile to flat. Yes there is a very minor green tint to the water, but the GoPro was massively amplifying greatly. With the GP12 and the ease at which you can access the LOG mode, I decided to give it a try. The first time out I was disappointed it was washed out and frankly unimpressive. But this... Read more ..read more

Cave Exit - GP 12 HDR Mode test

Just a quick off the cuff video I took to test the GoPro 12's new HDR mode. @Capt Jim Wyatt students were doing a safety stop as I finished deco. It wasn't planned so the sun was in a horrible place. And I still need to do some testing to work out the colors smoothly, I had to keyframe like three or four different grades. But this wasn't a video I could capture with my comparatively tiny on camera lights before. YT Link ..read more

Divevolk on primary phone

Morning SB, Yes, I've searched and people LOVE their Divevolks though some say they wouldn't dive it with a primary phone. So, I have a GoPro clone as a last minute purchase a couple of months ago since my Hero 4 wasn't holding a charge. I dig its video capabilities but as others have experienced, GoPro and GoPro adjacent products do video well -- for photos, DiveVolk. Enter my dilemma -- I have an iPhone 15 Pro which obviously has a rad camera. In my drawer of spare phones, I have my... Read more ..read more
