Not done much with the (1974) Primmy since last year, but now weather is getting warmer here in the UK I need to get them going again. Last outing saw me losing petrol (gas) with it draining out almost as fast as I put it in. The problem is the carburettor, which is original. I am quite able to strip, clean and reassemble it fairly quickly, but the problem still persists. Almost certainly the float valve, and although I know what the problem probably is I can't solve it. Sooooo. I want a new carb, but which one. It is a 19mm connection & has a pull choke. So, the question is, which one ..read more

Hey folks! Restoring an 80's LML scoot that's had a hard life. It's a son and father project with emphasis on the father :) We got the scoot in a few pieces and it came with many new engine parts. Looks like someone pressed out a bearing with snap ring still attached...oops. Looking for a spare engine case and all I can find is one with what I believe is the location of the starter motor. I am thinking of "upgrading" since the most basic one is no longer available (on eBay anyway). Anyone have any helpful thoughts? I've restored many cars and engines and have a machine shop but am a new Vespa ..read more

Hi Everyone! I have a 1966 Vespa Sprint 150 cc. When I apply the front brake the front wheel pulsates. The shop replaced the hub but still pulsating. They greased the bearings and tightened the steering knuckle. Still pulsating! Any suggestions that I can mention to the shop? They're baffled. Thanks, Colin Young Waltham, Ma. Hey, Guys Wondering if you can help me with this issue. I can’t seem to get my fuel light to turn off. I replaced the fuel gauge, but the fuel light will not turn off. Everything else works perfectly. SIP emailed me: please check whether you have voltage at PIN 5. Simply unplug the Speedo and check this pin with a test lamp against ground. There must be no voltage at PIN 5 when the tank is full I still have voltage on PIN 5, any idea on how to fix this issue? SIP tech hasn’t responded back to me ..read more

Good afternoon folks, I have just started restoration on a 1962 Douglas Vespa Sportique 150 which is badly corroded everywhere. I have thousands of questions keeping me awake at night so perhaps the first one should be , 'Is this the best forum for technical help?', or if not please advise accordingly. I am currently welding up the central section prior to fitting new floorboards/Legshields and have the following immediate questions 1) I am not clear on the detail of the back section of this central section, e.g., number/size/position of holes for cable exit. Please advise 2) I have a tube com ..read more
