Good morning, I'm setting up a new storage for a client. I have it connected to a mikrotik (it's in our small lab for the first configuration). I've got a Dell Power Edge T330 that's being repurposed. It shipped with 6 hot swappable SATA 1TB drives, and I'm looking at moving to 4TB SAS drives.  I confirmed the backplane has the 'open' plugs that allow SAS drives with the notch to plug in, and I think I recall them being 'SASable' regardless of what type of drives they shipped with, but figured I'd just take a minute to confirm before I order drives..?  ..read more

Hello is (DELL) PX04SVB096 the same as Dell 345-BDBC? So many different options and it's hard to know. By DELL support I was recommended DELL 345-BDBC SAS SSD for my server. I went online and from a reseller got a few SSDs. On their website, they advertise it asDell 345-BDBC, but they sent me which says DELL Model: PX04SVB096, part SDFAT02DAA01. I've run into an issue where I can't create a new VD using the wizard in the Dell OMSA. Has anyone run into the issue where even creating a simple RAID 5 with the express wizard in Dell Openmanage with a Certified, Ready, disk simply returns the error "Create Virtual Disk Failed" ? I have added some additional SSDs to an R740xd and was planning to expand the existing array but it's not even letting me initialize or create any kind of array with them. Has anyone else seen a situation where these 2 models "lock up" after power glitches? My UPS's for the server rack have reported power fluctuations/out-of-spec voltage/outages which pretty much points the finger at power. Machine will not respond to the power button, plays dead. The "flea power" drain technique to reset a dead IDRAC (unplug main cord, hold power button for 10 seconds) and a re-plug and everything's back to normal?? Old Dell PE 610 server, 6 hot swap bays, populated. 1 drive, 2 green lights, 1 drive 1 dull red light. 4 drives popped up (not connected to bus) Responsible person alleges that that server was running its OS, Windows 7.
