It’s was a giveaway turtle I got today. I don’t know it’s gender or what type of turtle it is. I also don’t know what type of food it eats and if it should be in a tank with a lot of water. It has to red lines on the side of its face.

I've got a 9" female Chinese Pond Turtle (AKA Reeves). She lives in a 70 gallon tank with a foot of water and a ramp that leads up to an enclosed "lookout" basking platform.
The water is kept heated around 82F.
The tank has a standard 4ft fluorescent bulb.
The basking platform (which is outside the tank) has a combo white/UV light as well as an IR lamp.
The room temp is average - it has a rad, and if I leave the door closed, it can get a little warm and humid - maybe 74F.
Due to structural limitations, the tank is near an exterior wall and a window. It might get a bit of a chill off the windo ..read more

The Dalmatian is a breed of dog, which has a white coat marked with black or brown-colored spots. Originating as a hunting dog, it was also used as a carriage dog in its early days. Hi everyone
I have an Australian Eastern river short neck turtle named Reggie. He's 1 and a half. Up till around six weeks ago when I would take him out his tank to have a walk around my bedroom he would always explore - behind the TV, under the bed, in my wardrobe etc, then all of a sudden he stopped and just walks right over to me and stays by my feet, he even tries to get up my trouser leg!
I was just curious if anyone had a possible explanation? He is healthy and eats fine.
Thanks mike

Hi,
the pictured turtle was recently passed down to us within the family - unfortunately both the age and species are unknown. Does anyone know which turtle it is?
Thank you very much!

Hello everyone. I am newbie here but I'm not an absolute newbie in turtle owning "subculture"
My name is Vadym and i am from Ukraine. Currently i am located in Italy and I have moved here because of war. I have moved together with my wife, parents and turtle named Shpinat. In our language it means "Spinach". Yeah, my wife has a good sense of humor when it comes to inventing nicknames. Well...a lot could be said about that sad situation with war but I don't want to bother you with all that stuff. The fact is that I'm just happy that my relatives are safe and my lovely pet with me. Unfortunatel ..read more
