I am so new to the PHEV / EV world... I have learned that most of the electric accessories in the Outlander are powered by the main drive battery and not by an alternator as in an ICE vehicle. Does that include the air conditioner compressor, or is it spun by a drive belt from the ICE crankshaft? I know the A/C does come on as required to cool the batteries during charging and it seems to come on quite a bit during driving to either cool the battery or to dry the air blowing on the windshield to prevent condensation in the air from freezing on the inside of the windows during the winter, espe ..read more

Hi all. My name is Garnet, 1. Owned for 1 month, took delivery Nov. 20, 2023 2. 2018 PHEV SEL - Touring model. (In between the SEL and the GT) 3. 2nd Generation 4. I was not actually looking specifically for an electrified vehicle. I came across this one while looking for a replacement for the car I had, and the model year was 10 years newer, the distance travelled was only 57,000 kM, and the price was right. Being a PHEV was just a bonus. 5. I am in Peterborough, Ont. Canada. 6. I am a Civil Engineering Technologist, specializing in structural design. Currently am working as the Truss D ..read more

Beside what Daixiwen is asking... Has been BMU reset done on the vehicle like some videos on internet, disconnecting or lowering the voltage on 12V battery and so on? Does Charge button start the engine while you still have plenty of battery? Statistics: Posted by kpetrov — Fri Dec 15, 2023 1:17 pm ..read more

Doesn't it start either if you force it into charge mode? Then it might be an issue with the PHEV ECU, or a sensor reporting something preventing it from starting the ICE. Do you have an OBD scanner to see if it reports any error codes? Statistics: Posted by Daixiwen — Fri Dec 15, 2023 9:26 am ..read more

Hi! Been having an intermittent problem with my 2014 Outlander PHEV for a year or so, but it's gotten worse over time and now happens multiple times a week if the weather is cold. At cold temperatures (-15 degrees celsius or so) sometimes the ICE engine won't turn on (even though I turn on heating and the stuff that normally would turn on the ICE instantly). If you drive away, when the battery runs out the car goes into limp mode and has to be stopped. I turn it off and back on again and then then the ICE engine starts. Recognizing that this happens, I turn the car off and on til' the ICE en ..read more

Hello I'm the owner of a 2024 Outlander PHEV since December 2023. This is the Canadian LE trim version. I was attracted by the warranty, government rebates, reviews, reduced emissions, and saving money. I'm surrounded by gravel roads and mountainous terrain in the Eastern Townships region, Quebec, Canada. Mean monthly temperatures range between minus 16 C in January (low) and plus 25 C in July (high). I'm a retired teacher and new to PHEVs. Howdy all, LONG time lurker, first time poster. Picked up my 2023 PHEV today and she is B.E.A.Utiful Question, what is the word on partial chargers with a wall charger 22kw or less? I.e. not a DC fast charge, just a top up. I know with the fast DC chargers it is always recommended to let it complete the charge cycle. However, for example if I go to the shops, will be there for an hour or so and they offer a free 22kw charger, is it ok to plug in and top up, but not complete a full 100% charge? Many thanks, Stuart Statistics: Posted by stuartcryan — Tue Dec 12, 2023 11:58 pm ..read more

Hi, I had an issue with my 2023 outlander phev in a public charging station today: I stop the charging in the app from my phone first but the charger still locked. So I tried to use the unlocked button under dashboard. With 2 unsuccessful experiences, it works in the 3rd time. However the dash board showed me phev system failed message when I started the car. The message went away after I successfully init a charging at home. I went through a car user manual the 1st time in my life. Here's some thoughts: 1. Locking charging port is anti-thief measure rather than a system safety measure: to pr ..read more

Fortunately for me, my heater is now toasty hot again. No apparent damage or component failure. There was some further goopy crystallized coolant partially blocking the in-line filter. Heating system (matrix and electric heater) was pumped in both directions with citric acid solution using Official, Mitsubishi supplied pumping kit, multiple times. This procedure takes several hours. Then the system was re-filled with new Mitsubishi coolant and the cooling system was bled using Mitsubishi recommended service technique (at this time I don't know the precise nature of this procedure). Car was the ..read more

Re locked / unlocked. The vehicle doesn't automatically lock itself if left on its own for a period. I take the point re the main traction battery not charging the 12v if unlocked. Yesterday ( 7/12 ) I tested the 12v connected up on the car and the multimeter reading was 12v and this was with the battery on the vehicle for 3 days. Vehicle powered up perfectly, showing 14.6v on the 12v. This is where it gets really stupid!! I put the 12v battery clamp on, put the boot floor back in and powered up the vehicle to take it out for a test run. 'EV Service Required' warning on dash display and 1 ..read more
