Hi All,
I'm a cold water diver living in the US Pacific Northwest. Every year I try to get out diving someplace different, preferably remote (for me) and not overly touristy.
Southern Australia (east and west), and perhaps Tasmania are near the top of my list for next year. The trip is still in the dreaming and ideas stage, but may soon cross over into planning and airline tickets.
Where would you recommend going? So far I'm considering Adelaide, Port Lincoln, maybe Hobart or Busselton...

Does anyone have any advice for teaching equalization, other than "pinch your nose and blow"? I recently had a student who could not clear her ears, even on the surface. I've had pretty good luck with having students blow their nose to get rid of any mucus that might be interfering, but I don't know what to do if that doesn't work.
As an aside, anyone teach Frenzel equalization? It seems like most divers (myself included) eventually pick it up organically, since it makes it easy to...

The right gear can open up a world of possibilities! In our Adaptive Dive Buddy training, you'll learn about scuba equipment that is best suited or can be adapted to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities in scuba diving. This includes innovations like Ocean Reef full-face masks, which enable those who may not be able to use a traditional mask and mouthpiece to dive comfortably, providing alternative options for various needs. Interested in learning more about our Adaptive...

NOAA confirms 4th global coral bleaching event . This could probably be listed in 20 places on scubaboard , but clearly Cozumel was affected
The world is currently experiencing a global coral bleaching event, according to NOAA scientists. This is the fourth global event on record and the second in the last 10 years.
Bleaching-level heat stress, as remotely monitored and predicted by NOAA’s Coral Reef Watch (CRW), has been — and continues to be — extensive across the Atlantic, Pacific...

I have a specific question related to pony tank sizes and air travel. I'm not looking to open up another discussion about if ponies are a good idea, or the calculations, or TSA requirements. What I could use advice on is the practical experience of air travel with a 13 vs 19. Either size should be adequate for my depths, but a 19 would be better, and I hear they sling better too which is what I would do. I'm typically pushing weight limits more than volume when I fly, but the 19 seems...

As noted in some of my other threads, in addition to destination dive trips we often dive during cruise trips. We've got another one coming up in August and one of our stops is San Juan PR. We've done the on-shore stuff in San Juan and this is a dive cruise for us (we're bringing all our gear and already scheduled dives on most of the other islands) so we're thinking it might be nice to try some PR diving.
From a scan of this site it appears that the diving near the cruise ship port in San...
