Hi all, wanted to share an interesting discovery/quirk of at least the 7150-1 and possibly others in the diver lineup.
Reviewing mitkawatch’s YouTube service of a 7150-1 (link below) the other night, I was surprised at 9:20 when he removed what appears to be a dense metal plate (steel, iron, lead?), perforated for the dial feet, from the backside of the dial. He identifies it as a spacer, which made sense to me at the time, but in reviewing a 1964 USA catalog description (thank you Peter’s...

I am in the early stages of researching, prior to hopefully finding, a 9000 Conquest. This particular watch has attracted my attention. It is described as a 9000-5 dated between 1953 and 1955. I cannot find pictures of another Conquest online which uses the same font for the word 'Automatic' that this one does. This makes me think that perhaps the dial has been restored, or the watch has been redialled. But I don't know enough about Longines to be sure. I feel sure that there is someone here...

Hi all,
Just bought a 1947, 35.5mm Longines Ref 5483 Sei Tacche, 12.68N movement and Tap 8, and starting the search for a decent replacement crown.
If anyone has one or could point me in the right direction be much appreciated. Also, is there any watch repairer in the UK that specialises in vintage Longines?
Thanks,
Richard ..read more

Finally got the time to take some better pictures of the latest addition. I found it in Italy and sent a request for an extract from the archives. Based on the serial number (5.3 mil) on the caseback and the movement, I would say that it is around the mid-1930s. Hands look a awful so I'll try to find replacement or ask my wm if its possible to take off this white paint. What are your thoughts? Hello, what do you think about this one? I have two concerns: the hour and minute hands are two long and the font used to count the minutes doesn't look like others with the same ref. Do you think the hands were replaced and the dial repainted? Thanks!

I just took it in to be serviced and tested.
After they told me that everything was good with the functionality and accuracy, they offered me $800 dollars for it.
If I had not spent all of the time i did, trying to identify and then trace the history of this watch, I might have accepted his offer.
But since then it had been appraised, once at $1,500, and a second time at $2,100.
I was just hoping to get a few opinions from the community. Does anyone feel that those appraisals...

Just bought this! It will take a while to arrive as it is coming from the other side of the world, but very very excited. This was in fact the number one on my wanted list for a long time. Can't wait. If someone has a nice bracelet for sale, send me a DM please. This one has the full package; nice (flawless) dial, sharp case and lugs, and matching numbers. It dates to approx. 1958 ..read more
