Well warned hammy20 But isn't it always disappointing when EOD turn up to do a 'controlled explosion'? Usually sounds like a wet fart. Phil Statistics: Posted by Phil2401 — Tue Apr 23, 2024 1:52 pm ..read more

Auto Ground Balance does cause exactly the problem you describe, it's a real nightmare on stubble. Also Sensitivity needs to be on something sensible. Trying another mode may well work too. Statistics: Posted by fred — Tue Apr 23, 2024 12:45 pm ..read more

Jay jay, my opinion (FWIW) is that you're being too rough with these delicate items. If you were to find something special and set about it with the cleaner you have then you run the risk of spoiling it forever. Coin experts and other interested parties prefer these items in a non messed about with state. For instance a short while back I dug up a Bronze Age Spearhead and I was advised at the time by a clever person just to soak it in distilled water, gently brush off, then leave well alone. There will be others on here with good gentle cleaning tips but in general - it's best to go steady ..read more

I have a 700, so similar but different. I once had a similar problem on sopping wet ground. The first thing to try is to lower the sensitivity and do another noise cancel. You could try ground balance on auto. The thing that really worked that time though was putting it into Beach 1. The next day, when things had dried out a bit, it was all back to normal. Beach 1 is ok for that as it also deals with mineralisation and by nature is used to sopping wet areas. Are there any nearby power lines, or electric fences? Is the cable secured away from the coil? FYI this is the result of an FOI request for minutes of the lunchtime drop-in clinic that took place 12PM – 12.45PM BST 18 APRIL 2024. "No formal minute of the meeting was taken and in the end we only had one attendee who attended with a view to hearing this discussion as a general interest in archaeology. In the end we spoke to them about CBA Membership as they had recently joined As a clinic there was no set agenda beyond what the APPAG inquiry was asking." Hi I'm afraid I can't provide an expert view but this will give your post a little bump...... I think these things are notoriously difficult to date which may explain the lack of responses. Suggested date ranges online typically range from medieval to modern; the beach setting may support a later date but I don't really know . Bump for other views/thoughts! Identification of Detecting Finds • A modern strap-end/hook

Hi All, Any idea what this strap-end might have been from? I’m assuming that it’s WW2 as I’ve previously found some 1940 hand-grenade end caps in that field. IMG_3178.jpeg IMG_3179.jpeg I’ve also found several of these little discs, I’m assuming copper alloy. Any idea what they may have been? Again most likely WW2, even though I’ve found all sorts there, right back to Roman. IMG_3180.jpeg IMG_3181.jpeg Field is in west Berkshire, arable. Found with a manticore, not deep (6-8”). Thanks. I’m probably going to go for the legend next I think. I’ve really enjoyed using the Nokta. Fair enough! The Legend will give you simultaneous frequency capability, whilst retaining your familiarity with the Nokta brand. Not knowing what your available budget is, you may also wish to consider the recently released, multi-frequency, Nokta Double Score: https://www.noktadetectors.com/metal-de ... ble-score/ Here is a basic comparison chart for the Nokta coin and relic detectors: Nokta Coin & Relic Detectors.pdf Statistics: Posted by ManOnTheMoon — Sun Apr 21, 2024 10:03 am ..read more
