I was told by a fellow shooter (possibly not too reliably!) that the CPSA no longer allow autos and pumps in skeet comps and some other disciplines. This is a small shooting ground on the Cumbrian West coast which I have mentioned on here before.  It’s a great, friendly little ground but has recently had complaints about noise. The owner told us this was pending when there the other week.  As a result the owner got in touch with Gamebore and asked what they could suggest. Hi gang.              When shooting Olympic skeet why do shooters always load the bottom barrel first and not the top barrel first?.              Or for any other discipline which requires a single shot first. A friend has applied for a SGC and is now in the queue…….. meanwhile, he would like to try various shotguns shooting clays. Am I right in my thinking that provided we carried our shotguns into and out of the clay ground - so that he does not become in possession of a shotgun without a SGC, that he may shoot clays under the clay shooting ground licence? Had an early breakfast at our usual place and arrived at the ground before opening time, but the car park was fairly busy and shots could already be heard.  We often have a trip out prior to beaters day just to freshen up as it were, but both of us had new to us guns, neither of which we had yet tried out on the clays.  A quick brew and the craic with Jonty and his Dad, then up to the ‘butts’ layout furthest up the hill.  A very badly weathered 1 dimensional ‘schematic’ of the six birds wasn’t much help and some of the birds came as a bit of a surprise, but nevertheless had good ..read more
