I just found out that apparently replacement batteries for Seiko Kinetic watches are not readily available for watch repair shops such as those who replace batteries at nominal cost for millions of quartz watches. My local shop told me that they have to send Kinetics to Seiko for battery/capacitor replacement. This appears to make most non Seiko Kinetic watches such as several of mine disposable items. I have a SBDA005 that I purchased new from Japan in 2004. It's been sitting for a few years, never been serviced, and it's power reserve has dropped from 40 plus hrs. to maybe 10 at best, and loses over a minute a day. I'm contemplating servicing the original, non hacking, non winding movement, or... as an alternative, it's been suggested that an NH35 movement, with the exception of the stem and crown, is a direct replacement.
