I have the 9-22-2020 Revised Reissue of THE VINCENT PRICE COLLECTION. THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH has both the "Theatrical" version and the "Extended" version, each with a different audio commentary.
The "Theatrical" version is STUNNING from start to finish; however, having re-watched it again twice in the last week, there are a few bits of damage here and there, and at least one spot on the left side of the screen during the "dance of death" (I think) where there's what looks like a jagged TEAR in the film! Not enough to be a problem.
NO!!! The problem I have with Shout Factory-- and it's a ..read more

I watched the first season of this show a couple of years ago on Netflix, and waited for a second season to be announced, but didn't hear/see anything. Yesterday I got a message from our son that he found it on Amazon Prime, and that there's 2 seasons available now, very cool.
This show takes place in London in 1827, and stars Sean Bean as a constable investigating the disappearance of children along the Thames, and the discovery of a girls body in the river that is made out of parts of 8 different children. There is some historical accuracy used during the show, and it gets pretty twist ..read more

And all this time I thought this was a movie... and until this past Sunday, it was out of my reach. Well, to be honest, I was (and remain) too damn cheap to pay the amount they were asking. I found it for $2.
Sweet Jesus! Takashi Miike does TV!! This is a lot like Twin Peaks for me, in that Miike is very much in the same surrealist ballpark as Lynch, although they are light years apart. The more gruesome parts are blurred by pixels and "static" because it was intended for TV, but it adds a layer of weird that his work always has. Always. It is part of what marks one of his films. Lionel Barrymore (who got top billing), Lionel Atwill, and Bela Lugosi, directed by Tod Browning... and while visually strong, I find the story just kind silly, and the story doesn't really hold well.
Still, this is the kind of thing that I enjoy so for me there is a lot that allows me to overlook some of the more unfortunate moments ..read more

I thought the horror forum would like this, if you haven't heard of them already.
The Hawaiian Night Marchers is a ghost legend in Hawaiian culture. Hawaiian Night Marchers are rumored to be a line of the ghosts of old Hawaiian warriors that walk across the islands once in a while- and there are a lot of different explanations as to why. Usually, you would see their line of torches from far away. Some say that they are marching to battle, others say they're escorting an old Hawaiian ali'i.
In any case, you would be extremely unlucky to encounter them. If you see th ..read more

This film is the primary drive behind my purchase of the six film boxed set I recently picked up. Directed by Karl Freund (who was the cinematographer behind both Metropolis and Dracula), it is possessed of a remarkable collection of imagery. This is also the American film debut of Peter Lorre, and he is magnificent, obsessed with the wife of another man. He is also quite, quite (as the title says) mad. He is also quite of love with the suffering of others; his obsession is as much with the Grand Guignol style of theater as it is with the actress (the wife). In fact, we are given to be ..read more
