I’ve been having an issue with a KOIKE Laser, 2005 model. It has a FANUC 160 series control. It is throwing a 501 alarm due to a V axis over travel. The machine is locked until the alarm is cleared. Manually moving the head backwards and resetting does not work. The servo motor cannot be manually moved back without doing it from the control and that cannot be done because of the alarm. What options do I have for manually overriding the alarm ..read more

Converting a Cantech L20 laser engraver to a CNC

How crazy of project is it, and is it possible to convert a Camtech L20 laser engraver to a CNC? I have had an experienced CNC operator tell me the gantry would not be able to deal with the vibration from the spindle due to lack of mass. Others have said it can be done. I have the option to get the machine for an extremely reasonable price. Worth going down this road? I have a very short window to jump on purchasing the machine, so I am trying to get as much info as possible as quickly as I can. I'm a woodworker, computer savvy, no CNC experience. Looking forward to hearing what the collective ..read more

Good day everyone I need some guidance on a CO2 laser that is not cutting correctly. Please note that some of my information is based on hear say. My client has CO2 laser (JCUT-1612)with maximum of 38mA, the tube failed (60w) and was replaced by a secondhand tube (45w)....this information is hear say as I can not verify the wattage. We have done the beam alignment perfect center to all mirrors and checked that everything is tight and all mirrors etc are in good condition. When cutting 3mm acyclic square at 35% power (12mA)at 15% speed and different focal heights ranging between 6mm to 10m ..read more

HELP ....How to keep 12 volts from bleeding to pwm on controller card on diode laser

I'm adding a diode laser to my shopsabre4896 and wincnc said there could be problems with 3 pin laser sharing a ground between 12v power and pwm. They said that 12 volts could travel back to my wincnc controller card and ruin it. does anyone know of a 4 pin diode laser where the pwm circuit is isolated. I know the j-techs are, but I'm trying to do it on the cheap. thanks, Ben ..read more

Fresh built laser overstepping?

So I just put this machine together. The attached pic is what happens at every direction change. It’s not as bad in the x as it is in the y. It over steps and then self corrects. I’ve checked, cleaned, tightened, loosened the belts thinking that was it. The laser head was 3d printed so I thought there was some wobble in that so I then made it all out of aluminum. I thought it was the motor mounts flexing so I made those out of aluminum. No luck. The overstep is exactly the same regardless of speed and/or location on bed that it is cut. Are the steppers not strong enough to deal with the direct ..read more

Hello everyone, I'm facing a frustrating issue with my Wainlux K8 10W laser engraver and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. Despite several attempts to reach out to customer service and watching their tutorial videos, I can't seem to resolve my problem. The core issue is with calibrating the device's camera. I'm using CutLabX as the software, and for my laser engraving projects, it's crucial that the camera is precisely positioned. Despite following the calibration instructions to the letter, every time I complete the process, the camera doesn't seem to be properly adjusted. I've ..read more

Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well. As the owner of a metal cutting workshop, I am currently in the process of evaluating new machinery to enhance our capabilities and maintain competitiveness in the market. In this regard, I've heard promising feedback about TCI Cutting laser machines, which some of our competitors are already utilizing. Given TCI Cutting's reputation for quality and reliability, I am seriously considering investing in their technology. However, before making a final decision, I would greatly appreciate hearing from others who have experience with TCI Cuttin ..read more
