I already use the lye they make but was wondering about the 7 pound containers of shea and palm oil. If it has a bad smell I'd be stuck with lots of it. I am wanting it for hot processed soaps. Wouldn't most benefits from raw be undone anyway after heating it in the soap? I put my soap in a crockpot after trace.
This one is roasted and says you don't have to compensate for the smoky...

One of my favorite soaps is made with triple strength brewed coffee and coffee grounds. It is amazing for removing odors from your hands. I actually barter with my vet - soap for honey. He told me that it is the only thing he has ever found that removes the animal smell. I made a variant of “coffee and cream“ using 30% goat’s milk and 70% coffee...yummy!

Due to the restrictions being placed on lye sold in stores because of the criminal use of it, I'd like to bring up an alterative method of making lye that does not require wood ashes.
Note this is presented for informational purposes only, and lye is dangerous, so experiment at your own risk.
I spent many years as a lab tech and learned a few tricks such as this.
I will be testing this method in the next few weeks and give a step by step report. For now, here are the basics...
