If it has a bad smell I'd be stuck with lots of it. I am wanting it for hot processed soaps. Wouldn't most benefits from raw be undone anyway after heating it in the soap? Due to the restrictions being placed on lye sold in stores because of the criminal use of it, I'd like to bring up an alterative method of making lye that does not require wood ashes.
