(NEED MORE IMAGES FOR!) What is a Spoonie Witch?

The inclusion of the word spoon in the term Spoonie Witch may sound, understandably, like it pertains to kitchen or cottage witchery. However, “Spoonie” derives from the now well established Spoon Theory (which we’ll be discussing below) and is a name for those who choose to identify with the premise of this concept. The witch part of the name, naturally, applies to someone who identifies as a witch. When you combine the two, you get the name “Spoonie Witch”. This post is an introduction to both the Spoon Theory and what constitutes a Spoonie Witch. Further posts pertaining to walking your pa ..read more

A Big Apology to All of my Readers and a Small Life Update

Hi everyone, How have you been doing in recent months? First off, please allow me to extend my deepest and most appreciative heartfelt thanks to all those who reached out to me in the months spanning my post about the sudden end of my nearly 18-year marriage and the present day. Your soul-touching support, compassion, kindness, empathy, relaying of personal stories involving your own very difficult relationship issues and breakups over the years, and so much more have bolstered + helped me a good deal (and still continue to, for that matter). Secondly, in the midst of everything that has been ..read more

Book Review: Witchcraft: A Secret History by Michael Streeter

The term “clickbait” arose on the internet as a means to describe a title – be it for an article, blog post, YouTube video, etc – that, generally speaking, over sensationalizes, over promises, or misleaders those who read or watch the content it houses. The concept behind clickbait is not nearly as new as the web itself, however. Magazines, newspapers, book titles, TV news programs, and other forms of media have been over-hyping headlines and titles for quite a while now at this point. You may be wondering why I am beginning a book review post with a brief overview of clickbait. The reason lie ..read more

Famed American composer Irving Berlin, who himself lived to the venerable age of 101 years old, once said, “The song is ended, but the melody lingers on.” While these words can certainly apply to music itself, this line is sometimes used in the context of death, where for many it takes on an even deeper and more poignant meaning. Globally, as of 2020 (it is possible that recent world events such as the Covid-19 pandemic have upped these numbers further), approximately 150,000 people pass away each year. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death, though, naturally, countless others c ..read more

Lovely Purple Inked and Embossed Together is the Best Place to Be Card

Flush on the heels of my recent Gold Ghost Shabby Chic Purple Halloween Card, I was eager to keep the violet fest going strong. While purple has strong ties to Halloween, (in the Northern Hemisphere) it is arguably most closely connected to spring, followed by summer. Though lilac season is over for many by this point in the year, plenty of other breathtaking purple blooms continue to dot the landscape. From irises to hydrangeas, pansies to orchids, it is hard not to be intoxicatingly drawn towards this most regal of garden hues. As touched on in the aforementioned post, my mom’s all-time fav ..read more

You left me boundaries of pain Capacious as the sea, Between eternity and time, Your consciousness and me. ~ Emily Dickinson There are words you think you will never hear and others you believe shall never dare grace your lips or fingertips. For me, this month has been filled with a cavalcade of both. On the afternoon of July 4, 2022, seemingly out of the blue, my husband (Tony) left me and ended our marriage. In a matter of a few sentences, he said that he no longer feels romantic love for me, wants a swift divorce, and that our shared home is to be sold ASAP. Had a meteorite plummeted from ..read more

This blog was founded on January 1, 2020. A time when almost no one amongst us could yet foresee the magnitude of what lay ahead globally in the months and ongoing years that would soon follow. Though I’ve mentioned my birthday in passing sometime around its date in each of the previous two years Witchcrafted Life has been online, I have not yet devoted a post to the subject. Having decided by early June that I wanted to do so this time around, I began brainstorming a slew of possible topics to write about on this front. Various ideas stuck in my mind for a few days at a time and, I have no d ..read more

Beautiful Rose-Filled True North Strong and Free Canada Day Card

For much of my life, I have held a theory that a lot of us feel an especially close connection with the holiday that falls nearest to our birthday. Does this apply to everyone? Certainly not, but it has been my experience that no shortage of people do tend to adore the national holiday that transpires around the same time that they entered the world. In terms of national/secular holidays, Canada Day has long been a firm favourite of mine. Not the top contender (that, as most of you likely know, goes eternally to Halloween / Samhain ), but one that I often rank as my third most beloved (non-Pag ..read more

Before jumping into the heart of this post, I want to start off by discussing the fact that the feed reader – Bloglovin’ – that I have used for the past several years as a means of following just about every blog I comment on with any degree of regularity has continued to be down for multiple days/weeks in a row several times throughout the last few months. Daily (often multiple times) for weeks now, I have been checking to see if Bloglovin’ was back up again this month. As of the time of writing, it still is not. Prior to adopting Bloglovin, which is a free service with no cap (that I am awa ..read more

Masculine Shabby Chic Happy Pawser’s Day (Father’s Day) Card – Plus Get to Know Our Dog, Annie

Although my husband and I do not have children of the human variety, we delight in our role as proud pet parents. Presently, we have the joy of being so to our sweet dog, Annie. (Who you may recall from my scrapbook page project share Only Love Let’s Us See or from my various Instagram posts about her over the years.) (This photo that I took of Annie a few years ago is quite possibly my favourite I have managed to capture of our wildly camera-shy pup. I love it so much, it has been the lock screen image on my phone ever since.) After a string of places that either did not allow pets at all or ..read more
