Hi all and hope you are keeping safe. I have a weird issue here that is really doing my head in! My partner works as a teacher and she has to save docs on an external hard drive. Issue is, that when at school she can open her saved word docs from the external drive with no issue, which is connected to her school laptop. When back at home, the docs will just not open from the same external connected to her work laptop. I did hours of research yesterday and to no avail. Connecting the external drive to my personal laptop and the docs open with no issue. There is an added iss ..read more

Office Frustration

Hi there, I'm working on a special book of the correspondence I've had over the years with my wife, as a gift for her. I had an idea to include a magnetic poem I once wrote for her - you know, with those little squares and rectangles with words that you can stick on the fridge? The poem loses most of its charm if I just transcribe it into words, to the point that it's not worth including that way. I can't print images in that section of the book, but I'm wondering whether I might be able to recreate the blocks around the words to give them the "magnetic poem" effect. Sort of like this (this ..read more

Word 2003 bug: "Match Case" always selected?
Office Frustration

Hi everyone I'm pleased to find a forum where at least some people are still using older Word versions. (I stopped at 2003 to avoid the Microsoft "ribbon" that replaced good ol' menus... What was wrong with them, anyway?) For as long as I can remember, my copy of Word has had a peculiar bug: Whenever I open Find or Replace, "Match Case" is selected. It doesn't matter if I clear it; it re-selects itself again next time. It's a tad annoying because I must open the dialog box's "More..." settings to access that option. Each. Time. I. Find. Or. Replace. Something. Is there perhaps a registry ..read more
