Tough Position with Aces

I was playing live $1/$2 this morning at Southpoint in the Vegas area. I had about $475 in my stack and everyone else had around $200 or less except for one lady with $400. I'm UTG with pocket Aces. My standard size has been between $7-10 to open so I opt for $8. UTG+1 and two others call. UTG+1 will be the main villain of this hand and they have around $200 in their stack. Flop comes KQ5 rainbow. I C-Bet for $11 knowing this is hitting someone's range good and I wanna keep Kx's and Qx's in the hand. UTG+1 min raises me to $22. Other two fold. I just call. Turn is the 9 of whatever, I check ..read more

I have no idea how to play or try to turn things around on streaks of days where I am getting nothing but weak or marginal hands , then when I get decent hands to play, get crushed. What? Quit for the day? Suck it up? Get more aggressive with marginal hands ..read more

Played a 1.2.5 game yesterday. Opened with kqo from hijack for 15 with 1200 stack. Called by CO. Flop came AT rag rainbow. Villain was in his sixties and snug in his opening ranges but had not been there long, experienced rec player. Decided to c bet. He snap called so i put him on a decent ace. I then double and triple barrel based upon my perceived nut advantage and my growing awareness that I do not bluff nearly enough. It was in fact the frst time I triple barreled such a large pot. Shoved all in for his last $400 into $600+ pot on river. I figured that he could not be happy with many aces ..read more

Learning Track: Cash vs Tourny

Hello RCP Folks, Fixing to start on the last few lessons of level 3 so I will be on to choose between the cash and tournament crash courses. I really like the idea of tournament play when it comes to the most amount of table time/ROI for $ spent so will likely lean that way eventually. So would like to know some thoughts on how to complete the course/continue to build my foundations. COA 1 is to master the "purest poker" with lower limit cash games and then move on to learning ICM and tournament play once I have the fundamentals down. COA 2 is to just focus on perfecting my tournament play a ..read more

Is this thought process flawed??

There is a common situation I find myself in at Live 1/2 NL. Firstly Id like to honestly portray my table image for you. Im usually one of the more tighter players at the table, never open limping and only over limping from late position. I don’t pay people off and don't showdown often. I Im basically one of the Nittier players at the table and to be honest I believe Im usually perceived as weak as I tend to bet fold a lot. So this common situation usually goes something like this. I will be OOP, usually the blinds or UTG and I have a nice hand, something like JJ,QQ, AK, AQ. I will either 3b ..read more
