A week before Christmas I had all my photography equipment stolen - No insurance- about $25,000 worth. It was all Canon with an R5 with RF100-500, 600mm F4, 7D MKii with 400 l 5.6 Gitzo tripod with gimbal head. I am considering starting with an R7, 300 2.8 IS version I (I have been gifted this lens), EF 1.4 tele ver III, and an RF100-400. My question is, has anyone used this combo for birding and how has it worked out? thanks ..read more

Hi all, I have a Canon 400D and am using the 70mm to 300mm lens, but I feel like it isn't picking up the feathers well enough or isn't sharp enough. Is it me, or is it because my lens simply isn't good enough ..read more

As my trusty SX50 is now showing signs of wear, what is a good alternative to replace it? I would like something that's small enough to use as a walking around camera, but with the SX50's versatility in reach and ease of use. Preferably without the need to switch lenses ..read more

Any advice on fixing a sticking shutter release/zoom lever? Would release spray work or would that cause more problems inside the camera ..read more

Bit of a long shot this but I'm struggling. I've got an old Canon 600mm F4 lens from the early 2000s (so mark 1 I guess) which has developed a focusing fault. Does anyone know of someone who might be able to repair it? Most places I've tried (including Canon) don't want to know because of its age ..read more

Hi Guy,
i’ve been trying the above lens on my R6 and finding the focus is a bit hit and miss, which i now realise people seem to be aware of these focus issues.
So my question is what other budget lens would people suggest?
Options seem to be:
Canon 400mm F5.6 people seem to rate this old lens, also great value secondhand and could use 1.4 extender
Canon EF 100- 400 ii not sure, but many people seem to rate this lens
Canon RF 100-400 seems good value, but not so great in low light...

I need a new camera body, and I tend to Canon. I had a Canon 5D Mark III which I have now sold, so I need a new camera body.
I don't have unlimited funds, so I am considering EOS R8 or 5D Mark IV, what would you recommend? And if not any of these, which one then?
My budget is around USD 1,500-2,000 ..read more

Afternoon all... I'm about to buy an R7, but was wondering if there might be an upgraded version coming in the next 9 to 12 months?
I know the R6 was upgraded to the R6 MK2 after 28 months, so working on that basis do you think there might be an R7 MK2 in the next 9 months?
I know it's totally guesswork but was just wondering if it's worth waiting a while as my 1D3 and 7D are still going strong ..read more

After rumors for a couple of weeks, now Canon has officially announced their 200-800 mm zoom lens. At 1900$ its price point seems rather attractive, especially compared tot he 100-500 mm lens. I will be awaiting some reviews, if those are as positive as I hope for, this will definitely get a prominent place on my Christmas wish list!!
(Apparently, it is also supposed to work quite well with teleconverters, but I am a bit dubious at the amount of light needed with those on ..read more
