Words are exciting and powerful. They can start wars. Stop wars. Help us fall in or out of love. They heal and they hurt in equal measure. I love language and love to use it to illuminate the world around me. I have always written, from early stories about running away, earnest teenage poetry about the state of the world, to scrappy musings about everything that puzzled or beguiled.

How do you write a bespoke wedding poem?
This is something I’m asked a lot, and it’s a question that’s both straightforward and almost impossible to answer. There are a few different styles of bespoke wedding poem and I am happy to work with whatever you’re looking for.
Types of bespoke wedding poem
The type of personalised wedding poem I’m asked for most often is one that details the journey a couple has taken to reach the magic moment of their wedding day. This type of poem is often quite simple in it’s structure and I make full use of rhyme to give the poem a cheerful feel and a sense of mo ..read more

Personalised poetry prints really are a gift that lasts
Let’s talk about the sheer magic of personalised poetry and why it’s a great go-to for a birthday gift that really means something. Buying cards and gifts can seem a bit of an assembly line in the digital age. Does your dearest friend really need another book or scarf? Does Dad want another bio of his favourite sports personality? Buying presents is hard, and buying something really meaningful can feel impossible.
A heartfelt, meaningful gift
Imagine this: Instead of a generic, one-size-fits-all birthday wish, you give a heartfelt, t ..read more

And why it became a problem in the first place
If you’ve had chance to read my post Getting my act together, you’ll already know I’ve reached a point of reset in my career. I have many aspects to work on and one of the most immediate is to change my relationship with social media.
I realised towards the end of last year that social media was having a negative influence on my brain, specifically my attention span. I’ve never been a person who’s chased “likes” or found myself seething with jealousy at Fifi’s news that she has a new sofa (I adore seeing folk’s happy holiday photos and joyful ..read more

One of my goals for this year was to commit to regular updates on my blog. I’ve been a keen blogger for a while – it’s very much a diary as well as a way of connecting with people. Last year I lost my way a little (I suspect grief may have been a driver for this) and tried all sorts of ill-fitting hats. I want to get back to writing in my own voice and valuing my own thoughts and ideas – a blog is the perfect place to do this, and my new platform, Substack is a veritable feast of ideas and excellent writing.
My aim is to post regularly. For me this means posting at least once a week with a reg ..read more
