Currently shooting with a 6D Mark II & 100mm EF lens. Looking to upgrade the camera body but keep the lens. Cost is not an constrain, but if spending more I want to make sure I'm getting a noticeably better result or at least saving time. Specific uses: 1) Jewelry photos. Using a light tent and 2 strobes. And image stacking with external software. 2) Just started taking jewelry videos on a turntable. Using a light tent and constant LED lighting. The main reason for the upgrade is... I just purchased my first camera , I’m in process of reading manual I have couple questions if someone can help me here. I understand why changing aperture to small darkens image in viewfinder or cameras screen, you physically close aperture by changing this setting thus you let less light in. But changing shutter speed setting have no physical effect at the time of increasing speed/before taking picture. Again i understand that faster shutter lets less light in but that happens during... Where Did The Bits Go ?
The Photo Forum » Canon Cameras

Group, I have a Canon EOS 90D camera and I am trying to understand how many bits are used to represent each pixel. The Canon web site states that the camera, in RAW mode, has a sensor that is 6960 X 4640 Pixels. This equals about 32 Millon pixels. The IMAGE Format states that RAW is "14 Bit Canon Original". The Raw file is 35.6 Mbytes. I do not understand the raw file size number. A Byte is 8-bits. 6960 X 4640 Pixels is 32,294,400 actual pixels. If each pixel is represented by 14 bits... I was looking at the Rebel T4i Camera settings and I noticed that there is an option to set the Lens Aberration Correction Data. there are so many settings I am not sure what they all do? I have to assume that the APP for Registering is only for Newer cameras. Second. is it worth it purchase a new Lens for an EOS Rebel T4i?, it's 10 years old. Part of my frustration is the quality of my pictures. I want to invest in a newer camera but currently it's not in the budget ..read more

Canon A1 LEDs are on but no shutter or mirror movement

Picked up an A1 that was sold as parts. Initially no signs of life. After having a battery in for a while the LEDs are coming on when the buttons are pressed. Pushing the shutter button all the way turns of the LEDs and the mirror or shutter doesn't move. It can be triggered mechanically under the bottom plate, but nothing with the button or proper functions. I was hoping keeping a battery in there would revive it to get it going. Battery check light doesnt work, but the meter lights work... Read more ..read more

EOS 90D View Finder Focus Info
The Photo Forum » Canon Cameras

Group, My EOS 90D camara uses different focus methods for each type of capture. The viewfinder mode allows many different Automatic focus settings. My previous camara, Rebel xTi, offered a few. Now, I have many and frankly I am not sure of what option to use. I could always focus manually... For a single shot type picture where the subject is fairly still, what focus option do you use?
