This fitting is cracked and leaking. Can it be unscrewed? Or do you have to cut pipe and start over? It looks like the guy did this used some kind of bond between the fitting and the 45. Is there a trick to doing this so I don't break the in ground pipe by wrenching on it too hard? Thanks ..read more

Howdy. We recently purchased a home (4 weeks ago) with a 14,000 gallon inground pool. I am slowly learning but still running into things I can't figure out. I purchased one of those crawly vacuums. the issue I have is I don't know how to get suction to the vacuum port. I have 5 valves, from left to right and pictured below. To Pool Fountain Cleaning Unmarked ( I believe this is the skimmer) Unmarked ( I believe this is the drain) From what I have read, I should use... Read more ..read more

Hello from New York

I am a long time pool owner who is having a problem with a new marble dust job. They removed spots with a void behind them, installed a layer of BondKote and then marble dust. They mixed the plaster in a tall bucket and a large hand electric mixer as they could not get a commercial mixer up the stairs to where the pool is. He also mentioned that he does it this way all of the time. Immediately, before the pool had water in it I could see a lot of streaking and marks from the tools... Read more ..read more

I accidentally drained the pool too low, and when we got our first big snow, it did some damage. It appears some of the legs of the pool were dragged, and in 1 section the sheet metal side popped out of the track. Check out these pictures. #1: #2: #3 & #4: #5 & #6: #7: Note: the #4 photo is me pushing on the bulge in the #3 photo with my leg, to show how it's slipped the track. What would you do... Getting beat down by Mustard!
Trouble Free Pool
by Larry H

Hello Folks! We fired the pool guy at the beginning of the year. My GF and I have been doing a good job at cleaning and thought we were good on chemicals. Lately we have been trying to get rid of mustard algae and have been getting beat. The mustard algae was present when we fired the pool guy but it has been persistent. We thought we would be good with the Clorox chlorine tabs/shock with testing Leslie's AccuBlue. Keeping the pool clean and clear really hasn't been a problem. We are good... Read more ..read more

Introduction from beautiful Southern California!

Hi folks, nice to meet everyone! I am from Southern California. Sadly my home doesn't have a pool... but I work in the pool industry which has inspired me to put up an above ground pool recently! Although at 1200gal, it's more of a puddle than a pool. It's the guinea pig so I can get used to taking care of it before going all in to upgrade to something more permanent. I am not new to pools, but I'm new to actually having one! It's been fun so far learning how to keep it balanced and of... Read more ..read more

Second week of testing and this is where everything stands (using TF-Pro Salt testing kit): pH - 7.8 Salt - 3400 FC - 7.5 (chlorine has been high because I added liquid chlorine last week upon the recommendation of the pool store because we were absolutely inundated with rain and he wanted to make sure we didn't get an algae bloom) CC - 0 TC - 7.5 Calcium - 100 TA - 100 CYA - 55 The Pool Math app is recommending: 1. To lower my TA... Read more ..read more

Safety of pool slide
Trouble Free Pool

The house were purchased a few years ago had an inground pool and slide. The slide unloaded into the shallow end of the pool, which was a huge safety concern for me. We recently had a tile overlay done on our pool deck and i had them move the slide back. Now the whole slide is slanted, they lost one of the legs and replaced it with a dented leg and now the water only comes out of the top sprayer (and even then it only comes out of the middle hole). My main question is, aside from the... Read more ..read more

Circupool RJ 60 oxidation signs on the elements?

I recently received new RJ60 system and I notice some irregularities on the electrode surface. They are not uniform grey, there are covered in spots that seems like oxidation - browning, greenish spots. I'm attaching a pic, but it's a bit hard to see since the cell itself is quite shiny I read that the titanium electrodes are covered with uthenium or iridium oxide, so maybe it has something to do with it, but i wouldn't mind to see some uniformity. Just checking with the... Read more ..read more
