After some time away, Grill Room Golf is back and ready to roll this week at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. It has been a crazy 8 weeks or so since we’ve been locked in. It turns out time is a little short when you have a 5 month old and a “regular job”, but we don’t make excuses in this organization. We are back, and we are ready to roll at the Farmers this week. Let’s get into it.
The Course
There is nothing like hopping back in the saddle for a week where the event is held at 2 different courses, but screw it. For the uninitiated, this event is held at both the North and South ..read more

I’m not going to lie fellas, our coverage of tournaments like the Hero (no ShotLink data, limited field, no Tiger) has historically sucked. I don’t like that fact, it’s an area we can improve in, and it’s on the to-do list for 2023. But, we’re not going to pick up our toys and go home just because ShotLink hasn’t made it’s way to the Bahamas yet. So below are some players I like this week at Albany. (If you’re new to the site, here’s a link to last week’s RSM Classic Players article as well as a link to our RSM Classic Course Preview so you can at least get a taste of how we usually don’t suck ..read more

I hope everyone crushed it last week at Thanksgiving; I know I won the turkey and wine contest at my house in a fashion reminiscent of Tiger at Pebble in 2000. But, after a week off, we’re locked in for the Hero World Championship this week. Let’s get after it.
The Course
So we’re coming off the bye week into an event with 0 ShotLink or SG data so apologies in advance for the lack of detail we usually strive for in these articles. But, we’re professionals, we’ll work around it. First, let’s talk about the Hero. This is an event that only has a field of 20 and serves as a benefit for the Tiger ..read more

Fellas, what a week it’s been so far. We crushed the course research earlier this week (you can read that here). And now it’s time to find the players we’re watching for all sorts of reasons. As I write this, my wife is dealing with our 3 month old who is teething and isn’t happy about it. Is she happy that I’m sitting here writing about the RSM Classic instead of solving a crying, teething baby? No, but I’m much more qualified to deal with the RSM Classic. So, let’s start off by what players will be facing this week at Sea Island GC:
Sea Island GC will host this event on 2 different course ..read more

Maybe I’m spoiled here in 2022, but I just have a different enthusiam for weeks where I can look at ShotLink data and try to figure out how I’m moving money from Vegas’ bank account to my own. So after 2 weeks of flying blind, we are back in the driver’s seat at this week’s Houston Open. We crushed the course research earlier this week (you can read that here). Now it’s on to players who we find intriguing for all types of reasons. But, before we get into that, let’s quickly recap what players will face this week at Memorial Park:
Memorial Park is a par 70 layout that is roughly 150 yards sho ..read more

Finally, after weeks of events with no ShotLink data, we are back to the 21st century this week at Houston. I’m fired up and ready to roll. LFG!
The Course
The Houston Open dates back to 1946, and has seen winners such as Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer, and Phil Mickelson. It’s been held at several different courses over the years, but returned to Memorial Park in 2020 (Memorial Park was also the venue in 1947 and then from 1951-1963). The cool thing about this venue is that Memorial Park Golf Course is a muncipal course open to the public. If you are a non-Houston resident, a weekend round will ..read more

We’re on the second straight week of golf tournaments that no one is really excited for, but we’re not going to let that stop us from rerouting money from Las Vegas into our bank accounts. We took a look at some players we liked and didn’t like earlier in the week (you can read that here). Let’s just get into it.
Tournament Plays
Hayden Buckley (-120) over Nick Hardy: Buckley shows up this week coming off a 5th place finish at the ZOZO and is gaining 3.1 shots on the field in SG: Total over his last 5 starts. After missing the cut in his first start at the Fortinet, he’s gone 3/3 in cuts made ..read more

The Top Tier golfers cost a fortune this week, so I decided to go with another approach. This lineup may ne lacking in big names, but it’s not lacking in talent.
Salaries listed below are from DraftKings.
Tom Hoge ($9,500) – Hoge has yet to miss a cut in 4 tournaments this season, and he’s already had 2 Top 10 finishes. His worst finish to date was 13th at the CJ Cup. Hoge has made 5/7 cuts throughout his career at El Camaleon, but he’s certainly in better form this season that he has been in some prior years. Hoge is 10th on the Tour this season for SG: Total.
Brendon Todd ($9,000) – Todd’s ..read more

Another week, another tournament with no ShotLink data, and a tournament that will be difficult to watch. But, this is the business we’ve chosen, so let’s get into the players we’re paying attention to for all sorts of reasons this week.
Players to Watch
Taylor Montgomery (+2,800/$9,600): Taylor earned his Tour card last year on the KFT, and has made 4 starts so far this season and hasn’t finished outside of the Top-15 yet. That’s an okay start to a rookie year. He has a sizzling hot putter, currently sitting in 3rd place on Tour in SG: Putting. I usually stay away from guys who are getting by ..read more

After I published my picks last week, one of my golfers, Peter Malnati, withdrew from the event. Rather than using that to totally readjust my lineup, I simply swapped out Malnati for another golfer valued at $7,200. What a mistake that ended up being. I only had 1 golfer finish in the Top 10, and 3 golfers missed the cut. But before we do a dive into my trainwreck of a lineup, let’s take a quick look at our tournament championship: Seamus Power.
Power ($10,200) had 28 birdies, 7 bogeys, and 1 double bogey for a final score of 19-under par. I’m surprised that he did end up winning conside ..read more
