Magneto driven lights on those but be very sure the battery & rectifier are in the circuit or your lights will burn out at possibly any revs above idle.
Or add in a single wire bulb saving AC 6 volt regulator to save any possibility of 'money down the drain; buying light units if yours is a sealed unit.
Luckily our DT1's in Oceania in NZ' have replaceable bulbs so mistakes aren't too expensive ..read more

Here are photos of mine.
I cheated/gave up on the tacho and routed them round the outside of the bracket (first two photos). Speedo one was ok (third photo).

That thread never really solved the issue, just identified it.
Taking a look at the old printed parts lists (some are in the Tech Library) reveals the correct part number that I showed above. And it is still available.
(It appears to me this error has nothing to do with superseded parts numbers... what appears to have happened is someone at Yamaha typo'd the original part number -30517 as -30512. Then the -30512 number was superseded but it wasn't the right number in the first place!)
So just buy the -30517 bearing and you'll be fine. I linked Partzilla's ebay ..read more

I didn't find the post but I found an old parts list.
Bearing is supposed to be a 93306-30517-00. Partzilla has them. It's a special bearing with snap ring and a special edge radius so best to get it from Yamaha unless a bearing supply has a 6305X1N... the "X1" is the special radius designation.

This bearing doesn't look correct. No snap ring on it from partzilla and its got I guess what appears like an anti-roll ball or alignment notch?
I don't have the original bearing. Please check the pics out and let me know what you guys make of this.
Is for L case, sprocket drive axle.

Just measure the clearance on the original if not dismantled yet.
Not trying to scare you but if you don't go close enough--probably by quite a bit--the cases might not match up as lack of end clearance for the shaft between the crankcases, plus get less engagement on 5th gear.
& obviously if you go too far & run into the 5th gear wheel it'll lock the 5th gear wheel solid.
Not sure what a car door shim is but guess it's to tilt the door angle. I'm only talking feeler gauge 10 thou or so clearance. Might be an official measurement somewhere but not sure where to look.
All the best ..read more
