Focus peaking problem

I have an Olympus OM1 mk2 and wish to use it tethered for a demonstration on focus stacking. I have focus peaking activated on the camera, but, when tethered to, either my windows laptop or to my Mac OS desk top, the focus peaking does not show on the computer screen, I have seen this on a laptop with a Sony mirror less camera but the owner was not able to tell me how he did it. I do have the correct tether lead and am using the Olympus capture software. Any ideas please ..read more

Dying FL 600-R flashgun

When I bought the original Olympus OMD EM5 over 3 years ago along with 4 lenses, I also bought the Olympus FL-600R flashgun. From the start I felt that the flash’s performance was mediocre for its price and mostly borrowed my wife’s FL50R. I therefore used the FL-600R very sparingly, keeping it stored without batteries in its case. But a few months ago my wife sold some of her camera kit including the FL50R and so I was obliged to start using theFL-600R... Dying FL 600-R flashgun ..read more

Only marginally to do with cameras but definitely to do with Olympus Camera firm. Many years ago Olympus Cameras sponsored the Hesketh racing team and one James Hunt. A specially boxed Dinky Toy - as shown in attached file - was made in a special box marked only Olympus and not sold in toy shops as far as I know. A friend is trying to find out if these were given out to staff etc by Olympus or given away in a competition? Anyone remember ..read more

All the hype over today's announcement only for no new gear to be revealed. Hopefully model naming will be simplified but an OM System PEN doesn't sound as enticing as an Olympus PEN ..read more

E-P7 announced by OMDS

Judging by the lack of posts so far, are we all totally underwhelmed by the announcement by OM Digital Solutions/Systems of the E-P7? Personally I view this as a missed opportunity although I have read speculation that there are high hopes for it in some key Asian markets. A modern replacement for the Lumix GM5 would surely have been a better product... small, light and with an OVF (and preferably metal construction ..read more

I can't find anything that tells me how to make the battery in the grip take over from, or support the one in the camera. Yesterday I went out with the camera showing 45% battery, that's with the grip attached. Only about 50/60 shots in it flashed up empty and died. So I removed the grip and the battery in the camera then read 25%. I switched it with the one that had been in the grip and that said 95%. Anyone know what's going on ..read more

PEN F ticks like a Geiger counter

Hi all, I just bought a new PEN F with 17mm f1.8 (probably one of the last ones...) It seems to work OK, but occasionally there is a ticking noise like a slow Geiger counter. I have tried my PEN F with my 75mm f1.8 as well and the ticking noise is still there. Also, I am not actually doing anything with the camera, I just have it turned on. I can't seem to replicate it at will, but I'm sure there's some setting that precipitates it. I have OIS turned on but I am pretty sure that's not it.... PEN F ticks like a Geiger counter ..read more

Colour choice

A bit random, I know, but this forum seems to be almost extinct and I'm trying to revive it..... Can anyone explain why there is currently almost £200 in difference between the asking price for an all-black version of the E-M10 mark iv and the silver/black version? Ref Amazon UK, difference is in favour of the all black version with a near 50% premium required for silver/black (which IMHO) does look a lot better, but not £200 better ..read more
