I was looking into the possibility of buying a used OM-D1 (mark 1) camera. A search on MPB revealed 61 cameras listed. Not that I have ever conducted a survey of other used camera brands, but 61 examples seem a rather high number for a relatively new camera.
As a potential buyer, is there a fatal flaw prompting former owners to sell their camera? Or, is there another explanation for this high number such as unloading the camera to upgrade to the more attractive OM-D1 Mark II or some...

I just set up my new OM-1 Mark 2 for the first time so I acknowledge this is user error. Nothing happens when I press the shutter button, no focus, no click, no photo taken. Same thing happens in 'P' mode. Any suggestions before doing a factory reset and starting over?

Taking pictures of still, caged animals. On EM5.3, A-priority, wide open, using S-AF, small focus target (not single) selected. Shooting through the wire fence, the spot clears the fence in all directions by at least the width of the spot as visible in EVF. Spot goes solid green for focus lock on target behind fence. Light on scene requires ISO 800+ Aim and shoot, not recomposing.
But the focus always hits the fence, not the target behind, as if multi-spot is selected. Lens is P14-140.2...

Please go easy on me. This information is probably super easy to find for most of you but I lack the correct language to make such a search simple. I’m brand new to Olympus from Canon, and enough of the jargon is different that the harder I try, the more out in the weeds I end up.
To start, I have an OM-D E-M5. This habit of simply adding “MK.ii” or “mk.iii” to a camera model is a huge middle finger to owners of the original who just want to search for accessories or info … but I digress...

One of the main reasons I bought into M43 and specifically Olympus who seem to have more functions than Panasonic.
Most used for me are the Live Composite and ND filters but also Multiple Exposures (that have to be composited manually). I've bought some Light Painting gear and am looking forward to trying that out with some ideas I have with models and cityscapes. The Art Filters can be fun too and I'm also looking forward to trying out Starry Sky.
Which do you use and how have they worked...

I recently bought a 2nd hand Om-d em1 mkiii as a 2nd body. I have a Godox V350o that I previously used on a mkii without any problems, however on the MKiii the flash does not always fire and when used in focus stacking the resulting images are only half illuminated and look as though the shutter and flash are not syncing. I have tried changing the settings in camera but to no improvement. I have the iso at 200, s/s 1/250th , f8. I have tried the flash in manual and TTL. Anyone have any ideas...

Hi
I see that the OM1 Mk2 body is heavily discounted in Oz (by OMS to $2500 and now followed by retailers. One at $2250). Anybody know something I don't? Another new release about to come out- surely not? Excess stock (not a good omen for OMS).
I was thinking about getting a second body as a back up for a trip to Nepal later in the year (especially as my Om1 viewfinder has just fogged up inexplicably). Mmmm

I've learnt that the Mark ii can do in camera focus stacking with selected Olympus lenses, or with any AF lens is running modified firmware.
I haven't seen similar modded firmware for the Mark iii, so can this model stack with any AF lens or of the box or has it not yet had the same hack applied?

There seems to be a potential bug in the OM-1 mk2.
Release Priority seems to be global. Meaning when I change it to On or Off, it is changed in all my custom setting. If I remember correctly, this was able to be saved differently in each custom setting in my OM-1 mk1.
Can anyone else test this out and see if it can be replicated?
I change it in Custom 1, save. That change reflects all other custom modes.
I am still on firmware version 1.0 ..read more
