Some pictures of an electric conversion of a Quest Velomobile using parts from an out of business supplier in Portland, OR Velomobiles are sore footed on steep grades and this one was used on a hilly commute with 2,000 feet of vertical gain on a daily commute. The little guy would coast down hill at 70 mph (clocked by the sheriffs's radar gun) but climbing at 3mph was a bit slow before the motor.... At PIR in Portland OR. Front shifting and drive ring, The chain broke a few times until we switched to high end chain Motor This drove to the main chainring assy. so we had all the gears avail ..read more

I’m having fun dialing in my Bafanged ClemSmithJr and just replaced the Microshift 11-42 cassette w a 11-46. Microshift says the Advent derailleur can go to 46 teeth but it did not at all so I added a derailleur hanger extension and the 46 clears just fine. I’m in a very hilly area and while the bbshd has plenty of power it was simply too fast using the power level needed to get up some trails with the 42 cog and 42 chainring. I can’t go to a smaller chainring than the Luna Eclipse 42 without losing the good chainline needed for the innermost cog. I’m using a nine speed cassette figuring the l ..read more

I am waiting on my new E Bike to get here, it's a Wart Hog 750MD, I have looked at all the spec's and cannot find any spec's on the size and type of chain, this bike uses etc. Can any info be provided, as to type/size of chain needed, so I can have a new chain here, along with the new basic tools I have bought for it. Thanks, Don ..read more

The UK company, Brompton, has a new Titanium folder that weighs 16.4 pounds and would seemingly make an excellent platform for a small front hub (or friction) conversion. Alas, $4,800 (plus whatever for the kit) is a little too much for a project bike ..read more

The Role Of The Mudguard

1. Prevent muddy water from splashing on e-bikes or people, soiling clothes, and reducing the number of cleanings. It can effectively block the muddy water and sand particles driven by the e-bike when riding. 2. It can protect e-bikes. There are many road conditions when riding. When the weather is bad or the road conditions are bad, muddy water will be brought on the road. If there are no mudguards, then mud and sand will get into the interior of the e-bike and cause rust. 3. Prevent the small stones entrained in the tire gap from being thrown out. When riding at high speed, small stones ..read more

Cycling is a very good sport. Riding an e-bike on a regular basis has many health benefits that help keep you healthy. 1. Build muscle. Riding an e-bike involves the use of all muscles from the arms to the feet. It strengthens the muscles and strengthens the muscles of the legs and back as well as the shoulders. 2. Helps to lose weight. When riding an e-bike, the weight loss effect depends on the riding time and the difficulty of the terrain. Riding time, terrain difficulty and calories burned are directly proportional. 3. Can reduce stress. Riding an e-bike can have a positive effect on mo ..read more

Riding an e-bike can not only enjoy the scenery along the way, but also have more free time. In addition, riding an e-bike has many other benefits. 1. Reduce household carbon emissions. If you ride an e-bike to work instead of driving a car, your family's carbon emissions can be reduced by at least six percent. 2. Reduce traffic congestion. E-bikes are small in size, which reduces the probability of congestion. And can reduce commuting time. 3. Help stay healthy. Riding an e-bike allows your body to get exercise, thereby maintaining a healthy state. 4. Reduce space occupation. The park ..read more

Locating a Trek Domane+ HP ?

I've come to the conclusion that an E Road bike would be a good tool for recovery days. I did my research based on needs/wants and narrowed it down to one bike, the Trek Doman+ HP. There's a semi local dealer but they don't have one or even anticipate getting one before Christmas 2022. Apart from calling every Trek dealer within 400 miles or so, is there a way to centrally search for the bike/size I need ..read more

I've followed Elby ever since testing their BionX D-500 equipped commuter bike six or seven years ago and being very impressed by the performance, although at $3,000 not of interest since I ride mainly off road. Somehow they've managed to keep using the BionX motor even though BionX has been out of business for awhile and seems to have sold their excess inventory and proprietary information elsewhere. For 2022, Elby has replaced the DD BionX rear motor with what appears to be a 500w geared system and increased the price to $4.500. Seems pretty steep for that configuration. We'll see ..read more

Cateye wireless speedo not working on ebike

Hi. I've just fitted a Swytch bike kit to my bike. Whilst I am pleased with results, there is one problem: I have a Cateye wireless speedo fitted to the bike, with the sensor on the front wheel. When the electric motor in the Swytch wheel is running, the speedo no longer works: it drops to 0mph. If I then switch off the motor via the power pack the speedo starts working again. Similarly, when pedalling with the motor running the speedo stops working, but as soon as I stop pedalling, it starts working again. I can only assume that the Swytch motor is interfering with the wireless signal to th ..read more
