I had one of my LED light bulbs burn out after many many years of use. I was just wandering what everyone is using today? It's for a 2001 sport trac and I just installed new headlight assemblies. So what do you guys recommend ..read more

1997 Explorer 4.0 SOHC 4 dr camber adjustment

I've been working on my wife's white '97 for the past two weeks. Today I was looking at the negative camber issue, primarily on the driver's side. I had the wheel off of it to get a good look at it. The ball joints seem fine and the adjustable camber bolts were already installed too. It is adjusted all of the way out on the driver's side, but it has a negative camber reading and wearing the inside of the front left tire mostly. Could the front torsion bar keys be turned to lower the vehicle... Read more ..read more

VERY high mileage SportTrac

Hello, I've been lurking around this forum for quite a while, but this is my first post. I've got an '04 SportTrac that is RWD with an estimated 290K on it. (the cluster has been dead since 2020 and reads 240k when it works) It's my daily driver and still runs well with no mechanical issues, everything related to the drivetrain is bone stock. I am curious as to how limited I am by my mileage in terms of aftermarket parts, as I feel like trying to install anything might open pandora's box and... Read more ..read more

2015 2nd row seat swap - seat belt issues
Explorer Forum

Hello all - thought I'd share what I found out when swapping my 2015 PIU 2nd row factory vinyl bench to OEM leather captain's chairs from a 2015 civilian model. Unbeknownst to myself, Ford offered optional "inflatable seat belts" beginning with the 2011 Explorer. Not only are the seat belts themselves different (in more ways than just being inflatable), so are the buckles! The metal insert or tongue or whatever you want to call it on the seat belt itself is longer than... Read more ..read more

2004 4.6L engine cover

I know this may sound dumb; I took my vehicle in to have reg. maintenence and warranty work for bubbling paint. When I got my vehicle back I noticed that the Black plastic cover or box that sat on top of the engine near the firewall was missing. I spoke with the dealer they claim there was no cover. I'm adament that there was. More specifically because when it was intact it made it impossible for me to clean out the accorns left by chipmunks or squirrles who climbed into the engine... While I was in Hawai'i for a couple of months, the battery in the 2016 FPIU went dead. New battery, but the fob isn't working. I guess I'll try a new battery in the fob, but does this REALLY need to visit the dealer each time the battery in car or fob is replaced ..read more

Intake Air Temperature Sensor

I just want to know if anyone has any idea where the Intake Air Temperature Sensor is located on at, 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4.6L V8. I have done my search and have exhausted all my resources. Some say, it is a combo with the Mass Airflow Sensor but it is not I have checked it. Others say it could be on the intake boot, there are 2 hoses connected to the boot. But, I can’t take off the piece the hoses are connected to. I don’t want to yank on those connected hard because I don’t... Read more ..read more

Ok, so to preface this when I got this truck it had two important quirks: -The key does not need to be in the ignition for it to start, -The door ajar chime has never been audible... until today -97 XLT V6 4.0 SOHC And, currently, factor this in if you'd like: -the driver door latch has been busted and floating around inside the door panel for about a month, and the Door Ajar light has been on for about a month, without the chime... The door is ratchet strapped closed but until today... Read more ..read more
