Just had the anti theft software patch installed and car stuck in park gear after first stop in town. Had to release solenoid using manual override. The brake switch on the brake pedal has 2 switches (one for rear brake lights and one for the Body Control Module (BCM) to release from Park). The rear brake lights are functioning properly, so the dual brake switch unit is fine. I cannot confirm if the signal from the brake switch to the BCM is functioning, but I suspect it is just fine. I am looking at a 2011 Sorento, 3.5 L V6, with 128k miles. I am aware of the engine issues with older Hyundai/Kia cars. Should I be concerned with buying this vehicle, for possible engine issues later on? Is there a way to confirm whether or not there is a risk by Vin#. etc? I got a new Mando pump, cardone rack and lines to replace them but I still don’t know what kind of fluid to use. I have an alarm problem; without prodding, my alarm set off. I've disconnected the negative terminal, allowing the car to go through a reset for 30 minutes.
