Prep and paint are not a concern for me as I owned a paint and body shop for 30 year's. There are no steel repo hoods available I could find. I started on the hood last week so it is to late now. I hated to do it as the car had 19,000 original miles on it since new. Greg statistics: Posted by gregaba — 4:31 PM - Today ..read more

I wanted to open my hood with out having to have someone else to help so required hinges on my hood. I will blend in the hood scoop with fiberglass  and cut the required hole in the hood. Hate to do this as I didn't want to destroy a great condition hood. Greg One option would be to go on the search for another steel hood to cut up that is either not in as good condition as your original OR a aftermarket replacement steel hood to cut up (IF they are even available/made). I found two Edelbrock cams in stock. The Performer Plus 2106, and the Performer RPM 7106. The Plus sounds like a better fit but more mild than the smaller Comp I was looking at. The RPM is another single duration, and I’m not sure about the lift. I read a rule of thumb to stay close to .50” lift to avoid valve clearance issues. Does this hold pretty true? Plus Intake duration: 194 Degrees - Exhaust duration: 204 Degrees - Intake lift: .460" - Exhaust lift: .480" - Lobe separation: 110 Degree - Intake Center Line: 105 Degree - Vacuum: 16" RPM Camshaft Specifications: Duration @ .050 Intake ..read more

Below is copied and pasted from a post I made in the OP's other thread on the same topic ( 63-galaxie-teardrop-hood-t169014.html ) Another possible option, IF you had/have say a rough or maybe damaged (I hate to cut/hack up a good part) or a spare steel hood you wouldn't mind cutting up to install a scoop, below is a link to JUST a Teardrop scoop (though for a T-Bolt) that you or a body shop might be able to graft onto a/your metal hood. NOTE the $22 price difference from the same company but two different sections of their website, first one is their main "Muscle Car" page & the second ..read more

I also found, IIRC the same bubble hood as listed on "Blue Oval Classics'" website listed on their sister/parent company "Muscle Cars & Classics" website for significantly less money. SO it can pay to look and search around. Though thinking on it longer these Canadian websites have that "Eckler" vibe/feel about them. SO could be owned by the same/similar type "Investment" company or even the same Ecklers. Don't know. But doesn't hurt to both inquire about info on the hood(s) in question in hopes of getting more details AND research who actually owns them. statistics: Posted by Torino390 ..read more

I'm running a Precision Oil Pump blueprinted pump AND their heavy duty driveshaft in my little hotter than stock '68 390GT. I went with their pump & drive shaft after my Melling M57HV seized up and sheared the Ford SVO/Motorsports HD drive shaft (both due to NO fault of their own). So I too, highly recommend the Precision Oil Pumps blueprinted pumps and their HD drive shaft. Their blueprinted pumps will easily out perform and out flow a stock pump and/or Melling M57HV pump. statistics: Posted by Torino390 — 21 minutes ago ..read more

For example, IF the oil slinger is on the wrong way/direction it would cause the balancer to not be fully on and not in the correct position (as in further out than should be). statistics: Posted by Torino390 — 48 minutes ago ..read more
