4WD and AWD front hubs are the same. RWD hubs are different in that they don't have a hole through them for the outer CV joint shaft. Timken makes the OE hubs for Nissan and you can get Timken wheel hubs from Rockauto for a lot less than from the Nissan dealer. Statistics: Posted by smj999smj — Thu Apr 18, 2024 12:03 pm ..read more

Thanks guys! I see now all 2012 pathfinders were either 4x2 or AWD, so I'm splitting hairs, lol. Statistics: Posted by 2012SV — Mon Apr 15, 2024 10:15 pm ..read more

1996-2004 Pathfinder (R50) • Hot to swap blown-out driver's seat upholstery from a donor passenger seat

This applies to my '97 R50 with manual, non-heated cloth seats. Interchangeable parts (IE, that can fit on either seat) are the lower upholstery, pad and metal seat pan (as a complete assembly); the seat-back upholstery; the seat-back foam pad; the headrest; and the two headrest guides (the guides are unique left-and-right - the left guide has the latching lock for the headrest post). Allow a couple hours, but it's a very satisfying repair and is pretty easy. You don't need hog-ring pliers for this gig; sockets, screwdrivers, trim tool, and a c-clamp is handy. If you replace the seat-back fab ..read more

You can still buy universal curb feelers: https://www.amazon.com/United-Pacific-I ... B007IWTTO6 I'm actually sort of surprised that more people don't use them, with the popularity of very low profile tires on expensive alloy rims. It's true that a wider tire will squat more and the tire will tend to rub before the rim does, but, the sidewall of any radial tire is it's most vulnerable part, much thinner than the tread and prone to delamination from a direct impact. So you're likely just trading curb rash for dangerous sidewall bubbles. Pretty much a Hobson's choice IMHO. Statistics: Posted b ..read more

No sidewall height (or tire width for that matter) is going to help prevent curb rash. You'll just gave to be careful when you parallel park. Years ago (I'm talking the 50's), cars used to have curb feelers that would make a noise when they scraped the curb that alerted you when you were too close. I agree. They basically turned the regular Patrol into a 6-cyl Armada (Armadillo?), but the Safari is a different story. That's a beast. I know a lot of guys who would buy one in a heartbeat if they brought it here. Statistics: Posted by VStar650CL — Sat Apr 13, 2024 2:05 pm ..read more

I'm the king of car recyclers, and it's obviously not for everyone. I have almost 100k now, on my front hubs from a donor 2018 Frontier, that had 15K mile on it. They were 100% perfect and installation is almost as easy as replacing the hub. They are still perfect. I paid $50 ($100 CAD for both) for the whole knuckle from finding a car recycler via Car-Part.com near by. I still feel there's nothing better than OEM, even if it's a used OEM part with less that a year's use on it. It's factory installed and pictures online will easily tell you the condition of the vehicle. Car-Part.com is ano ..read more

Never buy those sorts of parts by Make-Model-Year, that's a fool's errand. Go here... https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/ ...and enter your VIN number into the system. NPD is a consortium of Nissan dealers and they have the same database and drawings as any dealer. Entering the VIN will only show you the parts which fit your vehicle. Get the correct Nissan part numbers for what you need, then use those in the parts search tab in RockAuto to locate direct-equivalents.
