Hi Spiceworks Community,
I am reaching out to request for your guidance and opinions. I have been in the Systems Administrator field for about 5 years and looking for a change or advancement. Currently I am a Sysadmin II and working in DoD environment, so this would involve STIGs, CMMC, Linux/Redhat.
I like what I do in the SysAdmin field but would like to just specialize in the Linux/Redhat field. I work alot with VMware and developers, build VM boxes with Centos, Redhat operating systems. Typically I am the Systems administrator overseeing and troubleshooting any issues the developers comes ..read more

I'm lost as to why my bash script is failing. I have written a bash script that if I run it manually it will successfully complete the 2 steps in the script. All the script does is run VLC to show a camera feed and then update a test.txt file with the current date so I can tell it's running.
I've added the line @reboot /path/to/my/script.sh to the crontab -e file and it will run at reboot, but the VLC part seems to fail.
The test.txt file is being updated so I know it ran, but it won't open VLC like it's supposed to. I'm very confused. Any help is appreciated.

It is a remarkable program!
That said, I got Wazuh dashboard user admin questions that prevent me from leaving it in service ATM.
I would appreciate any help RE default user accounts management. It is just not working for me nor is what they are saying making any sense, despite me being a "Linux guy" exclusively at home.
Thanks ..read more

I want to create a FTP server that I can manage the users via a gui page.
Linux os is not important. Maybe debian or Ubuntu. I would also like to use ConfigServer Security and Firewall or something similar to manage ports and IP allows and blocks.
The users will all have their own FTP directory and I would use root from my PC to access the folder in case I need to access files. I dont need email or anything else.
Anyone has any ideas ..read more
