I did not do a timeshift. I just wanted a command line util to convert a Putty PPK to openssh format .. Sorry but your issue is beyond my current knowledge, let us wait for other member's idea. Best of luck Statistics: Posted by Midnight True — Thu Apr 18, 2024 11:02 am ..read more

Excuse me if my post was ambiguously worded. The drive IS mounted at /mnt. Would it be advisable to create a new mount point mnt/USER and remount the drive at that mount point? Yes, if you add further drives/partitions and want to mount them in /mnt. In linux you can mount partitions anywhere you like in the file system, and the mount points can be whatever you want*, e.g. /mnt/data or /mnt/backup - whatever makes sense to you. Conventions are fixed drives in /mnt and removable drives in /media. But they are only conventions. I have a partition on an internal drive and I mount it in /media ..read more

Can you try removing the wifi SSID and then add it back again? maybe there is an issue with your wifi router too, if possible try connecting the laptop via Network/Ethernet cable to the router and see if the internet issue persist Statistics: Posted by Midnight True — Thu Apr 18, 2024 10:50 am ..read more

Gtk-CRITICAL message should be ignored, it has nothing to do with your issue. Enter in the terminal synaptic-pkexec (without sudo) and compare an output with the previous command. Statistics: Posted by t42 — Thu Apr 18, 2024 10:49 am ..read more

Hi, no that's the weird thing my system is Linux Mint Cinnamon, not sure where the xubuntu stuff has come in. I got here by trying sudo apt-get install putty-tools to convert a PPK signature to openssh as suggested here https://superuser.com/questions/232362/ ... nder-linux Here's the output requested: Code: tom@nasbox:~$ inxi -Fxxrzc0System: Kernel: 5.15.0-92-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 11.4.0 Console: pty pts/1 DM: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia base: Ubuntu 22.04 jammyMachine: Type: Desktop Mobo: ASUSTeK model: B150M-C v: Rev X.0x serial: <superuser require ..read more

If you're asking for an opinion I think it would make way more sense to mount this partition to /mnt/Storage since Storage is the partitions LABEL. If you ever need to do anything in a terminal that needs to reference that mount point it will be far easier with less opportunity to make typos than using /mnt/7b479b37-0f01-4a7d-8dec-4c1ba0b7a6c8. Plus /mnt/Storage gives you a hint as to what it contains whereas /mnt/7b479b37-0f01-4a7d-8dec-4c1ba0b7a6c8 tells you nothing. Statistics: Posted by altair4 — Thu Apr 18, 2024 10:41 am ..read more

Weird.... Well, whatever you do, do NOT launch Synaptic with sudo. If you just did that again: repair the damage again (see my previous message in this thread). Statistics: Posted by Pjotr — Thu Apr 18, 2024 10:38 am ..read more

It still didn't fix the issue. I still cannot open or launch it from the start menu and terminal gives the same failed message. Also I forgot to say, in the first place, that synaptic manager opens from the terminal but also gives the failed message as mentioned in the topic.
