Why isn't bash math working?

I've been reading this https://phoenixnap.com/kb/bash-math + other articles which are almost identical to this one and whichever example I try - it doesn't work. It either returns errors or completely wrong results. For instance, in the article Code: echo $((2+3)) returns 5, but when I try it, it returns "invalid command" or something like that. I have a GUI calculator but it's very inconvenient for the things I need to calculate, that's why I'm trying to do math in bash. If I can... Read more ..read more

An Article from It's Foss About 24.04 LTS

I found this Article (Rage) informative about Ubuntu's latest release. I was one of the early adopters of ubuntu back in the day. But have been disappointed by it for quite some time now. Mint which is based on Ubuntu is good, But I don't like the direction Ubuntu has been going in over the last few releases. Some of what is said in the article is crude. So It would not be my way of putting it. But stay informed. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH UBUNTU 24.04 The sheer audacity of not caring for its users reeks of Microsoft-esque arrogance. news.itsfoss.com Click to expand ..read more

After this, it boots to a black screen with a cursor,,,, and thats it ..read more

Yesterday I changed the font twice and applied it. Clicked ok and for some reason changing the font hasn't worked. The headings along the top of the app are way to small for me. The KDE Doc's for KDevelop are blinding white and after a few moments it generates eye strain. If I continue to read it starts up a migraine. Any ideas anyone ..read more

I cloned a windows 10 SSD today. It worked. The remarkable thing is, it was encrypted but it correctly copied the entire thing. I used to use this windows tool called Macrium Reflect. which kind of worked but post clone I had to adjust the bootloader settings as they got screwed up. Clonezilla is just one step. It clones anything apparently ..read more
