Glengoyne Spirits

My son-in-law brought a Glengoyne 10 over to taste before Sunday dinner last week, while I provided a Glengoyne 21 to the effort. Neither of us had tasted a Glengoyne before.  The 10 tasted, in some ways, like a Glenmorangie 10, which is to say, VERY GOOD!  The 21 was decidedly in a league of it's own. Phenomenal. So, I decided to dig a little deeper into the brass and get the 25 and 30 as my own Father's Day present(s) to myself!! They just arrived. I'm actively seeking sample bottles of each, so I don't have to open the larger bottles. I think the S-I-L wants them for his inherita ..read more

I bought Amrut bottle from Bombay airport duty free. When i reached home, i discovered that the whisky seems not distilled properly. I can see some residue floating in the bottle. I’m not sure, if it’s fit to drink. I would rather have my refund back than to drink a defective drink. I would appreciate any suggestions on this ..read more

The Glenlivet Enigma Single Malt

Why do I see ads for Proof: 96 (48% ABV)  and others saying ABV: 60.6% ? One is a cask strength and the other a regular bottled strength. Locally one store lists it as ABV 48%, I found a bottle at a little grocery store... it's the cask strength. I also see prices from $109 to $199 online. Mine was a lucky find since this is2018-2019 release? Lower price but the cask strangth. Reviews aren't especially good but some day I'll open it and find out. I liked Nadura before the price went up. The question is, why are there two different ABVs ..read more

Ladies, Gentlemen, I'm hosting a scotch tasting on the occasion of my Son's Wedding for 15-20 of my closest friends this summer.    Thinking six bottles perhaps from all regions served with prime rib sliders, fresh summer fruit, assorted cheeses, cigars, et al. I've taken a first swing at some of my favorites and those recommended to me but would welcome opinions.   Going for   1) nothing pretentious ... fun  2) great diversity ... something to encourage the novice and something to dazzle the experienced  3) personally not peat-oriented but if you wer ..read more

Hello everyone! I’m 23 and I’ve recently gotten into Scotch. So far I’ve bought bottles of Macallan 18 and Laphroaig 32. I’m going to buy Highland Park 30 relatively soon after debating between that and the 25. I also have an unopened Glenlivet Nadurra 16 from 2010 that is 57.7% which was randomly found in the house and I have Blue Label which I bought 6 months ago and tend to serve when family comes over. I love to learn and always appreciate meeting new people. I’m interested in many things which I added to my page, most notably watches. Thank you. -Thomas ..read more

Hi.    My great grandfather made his modest fortune from buying an amount of  wholesale whisky in Glasgow in 1913. Which he kept until he sold it in 1919.  Are their any graphs that I can be linked to to see the historical prices of whisky in the uk in the early 20th century? Yours, Brian  ..read more

Since Horst did the Glenfarclas 12 yo today I remembered one question that has been on my mind for a while. Does anybody know if there is a quality difference between the family casks from Glenfarclas and their regular bottlings. Especially when it comes the the age. As the family casks are more expensive than the regular range. Or maybe you pay more for the rarity of buying a bottle which is a vintage ..read more
