I’ve got a collection of bibles for kids, that I’ll eventually be putting a written and video review of as time allows for me to continue work on the Bible section of the site. If you have any questions on the NIV Adventure Bible, the CSB Explorer Bible or the CEB Deep Blue Bible, feel free to comment below and I’ll respond when I get a chance!
This Bible is $50 at Koorong and Reformers, so getting it here for $30 if you have Amazon Prime for free delivery [I believe its $15 otherwise, so at that point not worth it], is a great deal. If you’re looking for a bible for your kid, make sure yo ..read more

Logos Bible Software is one of the biggest bible programs. Fairly recently, the newest edition Logos 10 was released. I recommend every church leader have some level of Logos, because of the monthly free and heavily discounted books, and Lexham Bible Dictionary, a free dictionary which is modern and helpful. For instance, the free books for this month (Nov 22, more books because of Black Friday promo) are Luke (Preacher’s Commentary series) by Bruce Larson, Jon Courson’s Application Commentary: New Testament, Christ and Spirituality in St. Thomas Aquinas and Choosing Gratitude by Nancy ..read more

Here are some current deals that you might want to take advantage of: non-affiliate links and Australian pricing is referenced.
The NIRV is the New International Reader’s Version. Similar to the NIV, but translated for younger people and people who speak English as a second language, the NIRV translates rhetorical questions where the answer is assumed, as statements of fact (at least where I’ve checked in Luke 15:8 NIRV and Luke 15:8 NET). But if you’re looking ..read more

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to post here on Learning and Praxis but here’s a new type of post that I’ve been thinking of providing to you, these are Deals posts. Most of the time when there are deals posted they’re for US which doesn’t translate to us down-under. This first one is a great resource for both pastors and scholars, edited by Scot McKnight and Nijay Gupta. The purpose of this book is to update readers on a variety of topics within New Testament scholarship, allowing the current state of the conversation to be available to those in other specialisations or even in the m ..read more

It is common to hear seminaries referred to as cemeteries, places where faith goes to die. Readers who put this book into action will have a harder time having this perspective. One of the best features of this book is that it continually anchors reading of theology in partnership with biblical text and prayer. This book is extremely well written with a significant glossary included to define uncommon language empowering readers new to reading theology.
One of the elements that readers new to theology may find frustrating about this book is that it does make the task of reading theology more ..read more

Whenever the book of Revelation is discussed, this book is commonly referred to as well. It brilliantly walks the line to be the best type of accesible, expertly combining academic with popular writing and concerns. For academically minded people footnotes are included to point to further resources. The prose, for the most part, is easy to read, with technical language well explained although not repeatedly so. This, in addition to included discussion questions, makes it appropriate for a small group study for advanced high school students up.
Brilliantly the book is not a commentary b ..read more
