In the first of five stops across the UK, the coastline of North Devonshire at Croyde Bay hosted the first event of the Surfing England’s Junior surf series. From northern most locations such as Tyneside to Cornwall in the far south, over 30 athletes entered the event. There were four shortboard divisions separating the boys and girls under 12 and under 14 years of age. Justin Cooper Injury Update. Justin Cooper, the 2021 250SX West Region Champion was becoming a championship favorite before his 2022 season came crashing down before it even started. He suffered a broken foot leading up to the Anaheim 1 Supercross, ending hit chanced of defending, keeping him out of the running for the 250SX East Region title, and sidelining him for the entire supercross season. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott Dominates at Baldface Lodge. After earning golf at Beijing 2022 just weeks prior, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott impressed in Canada at the 2022 TAE Natural Selection Tour competition at Baldface Lodge in the Selkirk Mountains. Forty individual runs were made by male and female riders down the mountain range in British Columbia on a course loaded with obstacles, which included 80 huge natural and wooden drops, kickers, and other features added to the mountainside. Ken Roczen Taking Break from 2022 AMA Supercross. Team Honda HRC rider Ken Roczen impressively won the January 8 Anaheim 1 season opener, but has stumbled since.  Suffering from health issues and the frantic racing schedule impeding progress, Roczen has decided to take a step back from racing indefinitely. That decision is effective immediately with this week’s round in Detroit. Roczen has been battling with the aftermath of the Epstein-Barr virus after recovering from multiple injuries in 2017 and 2018. Nikita Mazepin Fired by Haas F1. The contract of Russian driver Nikita Mazepin and his sponsor Uralkali, a Russian fertilizer company owned by his father, was terminated. As a result, Mazepin will start a foundation to help athletes excluded from competition due to the invasion of Russia into Ukraine. Formula One already ended its contract with the Russian Grand Prix, and Mazepin learned of his firing through his attorney. Christophe Laporte Leads in Paris-Nice. In a rare feat, Team Jumbo-Visma finished first-second-third on the opening stage of Paris-Nice. Christophe Laporte, starting only his second race after coming over from Cofidis, earned the stage victory.  This result also gave Primoz Roglic, the overall favorite in the event, an early edge over the competition in the Race to the Sun. The Wingsuit Target Smash. Humanity has always been fascinated by the open sky. And for centuries there has been an urge to crack the code of human flight. Three friends Sam Hardy, Nathan Jones and Espen Fadnes decided to bring their crazy idea to life. Their goal was to fly in a wingsuit directly into a foam made target.
