Finished setting up a new tank just a few days ago. Aiming for Blackwater, so I bought some "low light" softwater plants from the Ifs, some of those are Hygrophila Polysperma since I've seen people using them in blackwater tanks and doing well. Chucked them into the tank and watched them grow, then a few days later they started looking like that. White lines, crinkly leaves, etc. which confused me because this doesn't look like Polysperma. I’ve posted a few times about my cycle process. I’m new to the hobby. I understand patience is key to this process. I’m not looking for a way to speed things up. I’m just confused with my nitrite process. Currently the nitrite is at 2ppm. I’ve had it up to 5ppm or above. I stopped adding ammonia 2 days ago. The nitrite still reads 2ppm. Greetings, I have had a 20 gallon tank since 1985, so I am not new to the hobby. I recently went to petsmart (Canada) with my family to get my nephew a betta fish and I ended up coming out of the store with one myself (I’m such a sucker for anything that looks like it needs help).
