I have kept Scarlett Badis before I would not recommend them for a community, they are tiny and shy and slow eaters they do not compete well with others, there is a larger version called Badis Badis or Blue Perch that might be more suited but I've not kept those myself, if Harlequins are suitable except for being too large then consider Espei Rasbora, very similar in terms of colour and behaviour but stay smaller, I keep some and in a fairly dark tank they do stand out well Statistics: Posted by Staffylover — Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:00 pm ..read more

The older female endlers seem to be dwindling a bit now, and I think I’ve lost one of my older harlequins, which have got to be 7+ years old now. I pulled out a skeleton last night thinking it was the harlequin but after having a count of endlers, I’m down to 3 females with two looking a bit worse for wear. I guess we will see in the morning just how many we have left. Statistics: Posted by fr499y — Wed Apr 24, 2024 4:45 pm ..read more

bleach is fine. I used to have two and swap them out. You only need to soak in bleach/water for say 10 minutes or so and then give them a good soak in dechlorinated water (i change it twice and leave it a good hour each time) Get yourself a Aquario Neo as these are brilliant for ultra-fine bubbles. Hi all! Its been a (long) while, but here I am again! I recently set up a 30l nano cube for my wife, with my first ever CO2 set-up to get the plants up and running fast. FYI: it is a "JBL PROFLORA CO2 Basic Set V", which includes the "Pro Flora Taifun Glass Midi" diffusor. My problem is that the ceramic disk of the diffusor is green with algae and I can't get it clean! I understand that scrubbing is taboo, so I did some research in the netz and decided to try Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) as the least dangerous for the fish. This did not work AT ALL, even after 24 hours immersion Do I really hav ..read more

Don't get harlequins, they'll get too big for your tank. The dwarf emeralds would be much better. If you go for badis then get a trio - one male, two females. I'm not sure how they'd react to the bigger minnows though as they do stay pretty small, but lovely fish. This is why everything is so confusing Seriously fish and aqadvisor reckon the harlequins would be okay in my tank And that’s with putting the tank dimensions slightly smaller so it comes up as 53l (mine is 56l), they say it’ll be 63% full.
