Hello All,
I'm new here and haven't had a fish tank in decades. I setup my tank about 20 days ago, doing a fishless cycle. I am dosing with ammonia from Dr. Tim's and adding Fritz Turbo Start 700. For the last week, my tests all come out identically. 1 to 2 ppm Ammonia, zero nitrites, and increasing nitrates now at 20ppm. My PH has stayed constant at 7.4. My KH and GH on test strips had been really low (almost non-existent). I did add some baking soda about a week ago to get my KH up, which...

I plan on using API Quick Start for my 50g Saltwater aquarium. Says that I can add fish immediately, but will test anyway...
If so, do I need live sand?
Thanks

I'm considering a 40 or 50 gal tank setup on the first floor of a house. With tank, stand, sand, rock & water I figure 780 lbs for the 50g and 640lbs for the 40g.
Will the floor hold?
Thanks

I want to make sure I can see my new guppy without anything in the tank. If he hides behind plants I wont be able to see what is going on with the fish. Also I have fry in one tank by themselves.. I want to see how they are doing as well, that is why I have nothing in the tank, is that ok to do? I do have a heater and filter in the tank though. Also a temp gage ..read more

This morning I found ~15 out of ~20 cichlids dead in a 125 G tank. All ate well as always during yesterday’s feeding The tank has a cycled FX6 filter. This group has been together for about three years. No new fish have been added other than a few that were bred in the tank that managed to escape being eaten. I don’t keep live plants in that tank either. Nothing whatsoever new was added. There are no visible signs of disease. Their air pumps were on & the temperature is as...

I am relatively new to the Cichlid world outside of Oscars. I am looking to build a 75 gallon tank of really colorful fish. I have been looking into Mbunas and peacocks but trying to figure out which ones to go with has been a horrible PITA because so many differing opinions of which fish go with which fish and which fish are best... So be gentle and give me some stocking advice from yalls experience ..read more
