If you are putting the tank on the floor directly then your calculation above is correct. If you are putting it on a stand, then if the stand has 4 legs, the load is about 75 kg per supporting leg of the stand. Like mentioned before put it above or next to load bearing walls or beams. Do not place it where the support is a cantilever ..read more

Thank you Dark background is supposed to deepen the scale colour and also the base colour. A light background is supposed to lighten the base colour. Basically the fish camouflages to the background Peope keep reds in both backgrounds. Some like white backgrounds to have a clean base color in their reds ..read more

Dark Slime and Black Slime - what it looks like Here are some examples of dark slime, and black slime. Usually slime it starts on new scrubbers which have high measurable nutrients in the water, or on small scrubbers on big tanks with lots of rock where the scrubber is not big enough to pull the nutrients out fast enough. Notice that some of them have white patches; this is because the slime let go and floated away, leaving white surfaces behind. In all cases, just take it to your sink and toothbrush them (without toothpaste) so that you can see the white surfaces again ..read more

It applies to all filters. You should not turn off your filters even the internal ones. A small filter needs to be cleaned often. I usually clean my filters every three months. They are large canister filters and usually oversized for the tank they are used on ..read more

Hello, I'm also new to the forum. I read that the external filter in the aquarium should always be turned on (except for feeding the fish) so that beneficial bacteria on the filter materials do not die. Does this also apply to the internal filter? I have an internal filter with a simple sponge. It turns on and off simultaneously with the light on a timer for 8 hours a day. I wash the sponge once every three weeks. A dirty sponge usually smells. there are no foreign sharp odors. there are very few fish. Plants 60% of the bottom area. My hobbies are aquarium studies, shooters and e-sports at ht ..read more

A normal RCC floor/roof can support between 150-200 kg per square feet.  So consider the weight of the stand, tank glass, hard scape etc when figuring out the weight. Place the tank next to a ***LOAD BEARING*** wall. In apartments all walls are not load bearing. You will need to see the plan to find out where the beams and pillars are. The tank should be either on top of, Immediately next to a beam or next to a load bearing wall. Tanks less than 50 gallons - put them anywhere no problem. Tanks that are bigger than this need to be placed safely ..read more
