Hey y'all! Im writing on here to see if I'm paying the right price. I'm looking at a 1994 Toyota 4Runner V6 AWD w/ 106k miles on it. The paint is amazing, interior amazing, i see little rust (given that it's a 30 yo car), engine runs smooth, all the amenities (i.e AC, radio, windows ect) work great, has a clean title, and no damage from what I can see. The dealership wants $19,000 for it. Would y'all pay that price ..read more

W56 Transmission Rebuild Questions
YotaTech Forums

Hi all. Tore apart a transmission I found for a pretty good deal at a junkyard. I have it as a back up because I think the one in my 86 pickup is about to go ?‍♂️ When I was cleaning the cases and inspecting the gears I noticed the "Reverse Idler" and "Reverse Gear" look pretty mucked up. I don't know if this average wear and tear or if this issue should be addressed. I looked online and it seems that those gears are unavailable in any kind of remanufactured form. Am I making too big of deal of this? I posted some pics of everything so maybe some of the members with more experience can c ..read more

84 pickup cuts out and backfire
YotaTech Forums

I want to say I’m new to posting on the forum but I’ve done a good bit of browsing trying to figure out my issue. I have a 1984 4wd pickup brand new motor with 1600 miles. My issue is between 15-1800 rpm’s the motors starts to cut out and backfire. I jetted the main carb jets (primary and secondary) thinking it may be running very lean. I’m now fairly confident that it is atleast getting enough fuel. The first 1500 miles motor ran like a top from idle up to 4k rpm’s (never took it higher) it started cutting at 3500 rpm’s but was drivable and now it’s down to around 1600 rpm’s. This is what I’v ..read more

Swapping rear seatbelts for front seatbelts? ('94 extended cab 4x4)
YotaTech Forums

Hello! 1994 pickup, extended cab, 4x4, stock 60/40 seats As many of y'all have found, the driver's side belt is frayed, has retracting trouble, etc. I've read all I can find on the issue, here and on the web at large. I see people having some success with cleaning the belt, rewinding the retract mechanism, etc, with various results and last varying amounts of time. My driver's belt is badly frayed and not worth the trouble. Replacements are not cheap. It occurred to me that the rear belts have been used maybe a dozen times since driving it off the dealer lot 30 years ago. Has anyone tried sw ..read more

2nd gen linear clutch spring mod
YotaTech Forums

Hey all, I recently manual swapped my 94 Hilux surf (RHD 4runner equivalent). The torsion springs are a bitch so I've swapped to a linear spring. I've read a bunch of forums on it, but I think they are mostly for 3rd gens which seem to be a simpler straight swap. I've found that on my 2nd gen that the clutch pedal bracket gets in the way and rubs on the spring. I've had the most luck with a very bent up 2nd gen 4runner brake pedal spring, and there is very little rub with it. I also ordered the proper clutch pedal spring that most people recommended but it rubbed really bad, and I couldn't ben ..read more

Help identifying growling noise after g52 swap!

Hey all, Been reading through lots but can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for... Heres the story...swapped a rebuilt g52 into my 83 dlx as the stock l52 was going out. Got the g52 from toy connection in Santa Clara, the owner told me to bring my L series transfer case and he would swap me a G series so I can do my swap. In my rush picking up the new tranny and t case I didn't notice the 6x bolts missing on the t case. I got it home, got the right bolts for it and threw it in anyway in hopes of it being fine but sure enough was leaking oil real bad out of a middle seam and has a terrible ..read more

Weird misfire sound 94runner 3vze

Hey, I’ve recently got a weird misfire sound coming from my engine and a noticeable vibration. Very laggy when pressing on gas, very shaky. I just did cap rotor wires plugs about 5000 miles ago. I was just sitting at the light and it started vibrating I’ve had a problem with vibration when letting off the gas at higher speeds so I’ve thought it was a misfire from slipped timing. Could it have slipped a little more causing it to shake like this the whole time I have a video of what it sounds like files too big ..read more

Starting issues. I have a 2019 Tacoma Trd that has starting issues, if the truck sits overnight or for long periods of time it starts right up but if you drive it then shut it off and try and start it in a minute it will go through the whole crank cycle and not start until you try again. All of the shops try to say the starter and that’s been replaced twice then they said fuel pump so that was replaced the truck has no issues when running no lag or idle problems, any ideas ..read more
