Maybe some can guide me as to what to do next. My 2013 hybrid 1500,000 miles camerys a/cwent out 2 years ago. Dealer said 5,000 to fix. I didn’t have the money so I went without an a/c. Then the hybrid battery went out. I took it to a local shop and they fixed it for a good price. While I was there I asked them to look into fixing the a/c. We agreed on putting in a rebuild compressor. However this new a/c keep on tripping the check hybrid system, the shop could not figure out why it was...

Hey all,
I've a 1988 DLX sedan with a 4A-FE and 4 speed auto under the hood. I just rebuilt the engine, although it's been doing this more or less since day one.
The problem is that the engine absolutely will not exceed 3000 rpm (or somewhere in that neighborhood) unless the spark timing is wayyyy advanced. Like, pinging with 93 octane advanced. Even then it still won't exceed around 4500 without misfiring like crazy. I prefer my rods straight and pistons in one piece so I retarded the...

Hello everyone,
I own a 2009 Toyota Venza 2.7L. I have the OEM 19-inch rims. I recently changed my brakes and tried to clean the back side of the rim. But due to the horrible previous brake pads. It seems that the rear of my rims are heavily covered in brake dust. I am trying to figure out the best way to remove it and wanted to hear some thoughts. I was watching a video from Chris Fix and bought a certain Meguiar's wheel cleaner he showed in the video. I was planning on washing my car...

This just happened. I was already on the way home but had to stop at the store. Turned the car off and was greeted with this message. More than likely the hybrid battery filter and fan. However, my tools are at the house but there is an Autozone 10 mins away. House is 30 mins away. Would I be able to drive this to my house or AutoZone? Or do I need to not turn the car on at all and bring the tools to the car ..read more

I own a 2003 Toyota matrix base model. I have a very rough idle at random times (usually around the first start up). It would jump from 800rpms to around 2,000 rpms rapidly and fluctuates between those numbers. I recently replaced the motor mounts, spark plugs, ignition coils. Last month i replaced the IAC valve but i continue to see a rough idle. Do you guys have any ideas to what it could be ..read more

I thought it would be fun to see what stories you mechanics want to share about things you dropped down into the innards of engines you worked on. Were you able to retrieve it?
Here is my oopsie from several years back:
I was pulling the front cams off the right head of my 2000 V6 Solara so I could install new valve stem seals. Like a doofus I began removing the cams before plugging the oil drain holes. I dropped a service bolt (allen bolt used to lock two gears of the cam together) and...
