What is a renaissance man? Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as “a person who has wide interests and is expert in several areas”.  Perhaps Leonardo da Vinci is the best example of someone who was expert in the arts, science, and engineering. Fred Behning is such a renaissance man, being an accomplished musician, actor, and builder. He plays in several local symphonic bands and orchestras and has starred in musical productions as well as performing in pit orchestra for Broadway shows. From the start, Fred always looked for the fun in things he did. He went to college like so many other ..read more

HOW CAN AMERICA IMPROVE EV SALES?

As EV sales skyrocket across Europe, America needs to think about how it can achieve the same numbers According to a December 2020 Consumer Reports survey, 7 out of 10 American adults with a driver’s license are interested in purchasing an EV in the future. However, there are still barriers to adoption that are discouraging them from making the switch, including high entry costs and the limited charging infrastructure. Perhaps encouragingly, the story is a bit different across the pond, where consumers are displaying more confidence in EVs. Scandinavia has always been at the center of technolo ..read more

Think back to when you were a kid.  What do you remember being excited about?  Toys, movies, and comics, right?  These things were the coolest.  They were awesome back then and even as adults you probably find yourself smiling at things that remind you of them.  When we were kids, everything new and shiny was exciting and fun.  As we grow older, we lose a little bit of that sense of excitement. Glen Jenkins was a regular kid who was fascinated with certain technologies.  When he was 13, he started making little electronics and listening to shortwave radio.&nb ..read more

President-elect Joe Biden may be the first president to make electrification a central priority of his administration. His campaign promises include lofty clean energy goals, and electric vehicles are at the center of this initiative. His plans, however, will not be without opposition; low gas prices and likely Republican control of the Senate may interfere with his policy goals. Fortunately, the future already belongs to EVs–regardless of legislation coming from the White House. On day one, Biden pledges to sign a series of new executive orders that will ensure the U.S. “achieves a 100% clean ..read more

As School Buses Electrify Across the Country, the Future for EVs Looks Promising

Every morning and afternoon, approximately 480,000 school buses depart on their daily routes across America, each school district’s fleet collectively traversing every street in the town. In the United States, school buses cover almost 3.5 billion miles every year, a concerning figure considering that 95 percent of these vehicles are still powered by diesel fuel. Personal fossil-powered cars regularly come under fire for polluting the atmosphere, but school buses should perhaps be an even larger target of these criticisms. Each diesel-powered bus consumes an average of 2,045 gallons of petrole ..read more

Electrification Initiatives from Ride-Hailing Platforms Should Spur Widespread EV Adoption
RevdUp

Electric vehicle sales have enjoyed significant growth over the past decade, including a massive 81% increase from 2017 to 2018, and much of this growth can be attributed to Tesla, which currently owns about 60% of the US market. The problem is that many drivers cannot afford to purchase one of these luxury vehicles, and even lower-cost EVs still come with higher sticker prices than gas-powered cars. That may be about to change, however. With ride-hailing companies Uber and Lyft pledging to go fully electric, EVs should soon be made more accessible to a broader demographic. On June 17, Lyft an ..read more
