I had one of these at one time when they came out with it and thought it was really cool.
Basically the trick is;
# Take a matchbox and place it on the back of your hand.
# The matchbox flips over end on the back of your hand.
# Then the matchbox opens by itself showing the matches inside.
# Then one of the matches "jumps-out" of the matchbox & stands straight up on the matchbox.
Cool huh?!
I was able to do it a few times and got great reaction with it. However I broke the gimmick that makes the matchbox work. I'd like to get another one of these, but I can't seem to find one for sale ..read more

This must have been somewhere around 1999 or 2000. I went to a SAM or IBM meeting in Sacramento and I saw a member of the group, well I'll describe what I saw;
# He took a cigarette and put it to the base of his nose.
# He "sniffed" up and at the same time he tilted his head back...
# And the cigarette was gone!
He got a great reaction from the audience! It was totally unexpected.
I am thinking that this is someone's pet trick.
Are you familiar with it? Where can I learn this? Is this a dealer item or not?
I think the guy was seated when he did this. Most of what I saw on YouTube wasn't a ..read more

Many argue (including me) that card tricks have become a staple of magic acts simply because they are easy to learn and execute, making them a go-to choice for magicians looking to impress their audience. However, the repetitive nature of card tricks and their widespread use in magic performances have l ..read more

From: "The Magic State of Mind" essay in "The Amateur Magician's Handbook" (1982 edition)
"Of all the wonderful sleight of hand experts in the world, probably not a dozen can stand up against slow motion cameras. Take away the misdirection and the timing, and anyone can see the coin revolving to the back of the hand, the billiard ball being gobbled by the left fist instead of carried away by the right . "
"Slow motion camera perfection is the last stage that even a great expert attains, and on balance, it may not be very much more effective than the showman's "good enough"... Keep on practic ..read more
