Buy a dice or get a chinese knockoff (i use a foxwell series for volvo NT510 Elite although there are newer ones now) to get your own codes. Freeze frame data would be extremely useful here as we could tell if its intermittent, at startup, at speed, or in a certain gearing.

Took the Silver Bullet for a test drive, and it handled beautifully ... until the low-coolant light lit up. I got it home all right and found coolant leaking from somewhere at either the water pump or coolant pipe (more likely) but couldn't see the actual leak. Hoping to get under the car before those new Goodyears arrive.

Nope, it's out in the yard--I'll take pics next time I go. Conveniently, it's on the end of a row with great access. Time limit = operating hours of the yard, 8 to 6. No rain, just cold--highs in the 30s.this week..

For a 1997 car, I am told that OBD-II works. (I have a 1995, and have to use the LED blink code under the hood.) If you have a reader available, you might give it a try.

'97 850 ECC still produce flash codes and readout is done via OBDII port with a blink code reader.
Fully OBD II compliant ECC begins with s,v70.

That was a nice car! Looks like it got hit hard and spun into something at the LR.
So, is it inside on that nice slab out of the rain while you work? That would be a huge difference from out in the mud in the yard. Is there a time limit on how long you can work on it?
