Hi all…I need some advice. My piggie (3) lost her sister back in November and she’s been clearly depressed. I adopted a new piggie this past week (estimated same age) and decided to try to introduce them today. I hoped things would work out since the shelter said she should be paired with another female guinea pig. They’ve been in the same room so they’re aware of each other. I had them placed on a few towels in my room (they’re in the room next to mine) with a wire pen blocking off some... Read more ..read more

Setting up cage in laundry room?
Guinea Pig Cages

just so happened to remember this account exists after going through an old list of my accounts LOL we're house hunting ATM and may have found the one (if we're approved on the loan) and am wondering if it would be safe to set up a cage in the laundry room. i'm going to assume not, because of how loud a washer/dryer could be compared to what a pig can handle sound-wise, but it's quite the large room and i've got the OK to start the hobby again with much more knowledge and maturity in my... Sisters fighting post-pregnancy
Guinea Pig Cages

Hello, I adopted two 8 month old sisters from the shelter, Peanut and Lola, they were bonded at the time. I was unaware they were pregnant until I took them to the vet for a post-adoption checkup. They both gave birth almost a month ago and I adopted the babies out last week as I don't have room for that many guineas. They were separated from about a week pre-pregnancy all the way through weaning (so a month total), because Lola was not using one of her back legs and Peanut was starting to... Read more ..read more

My old thread got closed due to inactivity. My guinea pig Eri lost over 100 grams last month and has not gained it back yet. She’s gained maybe 20 grams back. I’ve been to the vet four times and so far the only thing that has happened is she is on pain medication. I suspected a UTI at first. I saw this one vet and he was stuck on it HAD to be a dental issue. He looked in her mouth and saw no issues. He had an instrument that allowed him to see all of her teeth. He wanted to sedate her to... Read more ..read more

Guinea Pig Given Birth
Guinea Pig Cages

Hi, I had GP’s as a child but this is my first time having them as an adult, I bought 2 sows from a local pet shop 7 weeks ago yesterday and yesterday one of them gave birth to 3 pups. The pups seemed fine yesterday and were moving about the hutch following mum, I took the other GP to get sexed and they said she was definitely female so I must’ve been sold the other one pregnant. My question is just what do I do with these pups to give them the best chance? I’ve put in additional pellets... Read more ..read more

What should I do?
Guinea Pig Cages

I have not had guinea pigs for very long, just around 5 months now, and this is my first time owning. My two pigs were bought from a small farm somewhere in Virginia, where I was told they were both female, when in fact they were not. My female one just gave birth to two little pups, who are feeding pretty well so far. We had some complications with the youngest, but they are eating as well as two day old pigs can. I just have a couple questions so I can do my best for my babies. In the... Read more ..read more
