Quinceañeras hold profound cultural significance within the Latinx community, as the event celebrates the transition from girlhood to womanhood. Leading up to my 15th birthday, I took an untraditional approach to this staple event in my culture.
My name is Victoria F. Vega, and I am a proud Latina with roots tracing back to Puerto Rico and Uruguay. Now, picture this: it’s the eve of my 15th birthday, and the air is buzzing with anticipation for my quinceañera. But here’s the twist — my journey to womanhood is about to take a detour through Queer Street, and I don’t even know it yet!

Writing comes naturally to Layla Said, creator of Said Nothing. Media. She told Tagg that sharing her life through art was something she “always felt really compelled to do.”
Said’s poetic and written talents will officially culminate in her first poetry book, “Don’t You Cry, I’m on Venus.” Releasing this summer, this 7-year project reflects her life journey in navigating the world as a queer BIPOC woman.
A Life of Poetry
Said’s book took its first breath during her junior year of college when her professor, Sarah McCallum, encouraged her to become a poet. “She was the first perso ..read more

As a teenager, I had no idea that I was a lesbian. I didn’t grow up knowing any openly queer people, and my family was staunchly Catholic. Looking back, all of the signs were there: I wasn’t dating, I had insanely close relationships with my girl friends, and my bedroom walls were adorned with photos of pop divas in low-rise jeans and low-cut shirts—there wasn’t a single boy band member in sight. In college, my classmates introduced me to The L Word. I remember going to Blockbuster to grab season one and automatically becoming hooked. By the end of the first DVD, I made more sense to myself th ..read more

Imagine being at a bar, watching a queer woman in an extravagant costume take the stage and begin a slow, seductive dance, removing most of her clothes along the way. It might not be a partnership we ever imagined, but the union between Taco Bell and WILDFANG turned out to be the stuff of dreams. The hip fast-food chain and beloved queer-owned clothing brand teamed up to create a limited edition version of WILDFANG’s classic coverall.
The deep charcoal grey garment features twenty pockets inspired by the shape of Taco Bell menu items. The coverall’s zippers are in signature Taco Bell purple and offer a welcome pop of color. It’s uniquely stylish and completely functional, perfectly marrying Taco Bell’s irreverent “live más” vibe with WILDFANG’s pencha ..read more
