It does play cds, just makes noise when the carousel is moving. I changed the 2 belts but that did not help. It made the same noise before I changed the 2 belts. I did not change the door belt because the door is not making noise. Anyone know what the issue is? Thanks ..read more

Now that streaming video sucks and getting worse, can physical media be saved?

There are those who believe optical disc players aren't long for this home theater hobby. Streaming seems like the obvious successor, but it's only going to get more expensive for a service that's demonstrably worse than disc. Is it a good time for physical media to make a comeback in home video? Preference for movie disc is presently only a dedicated niche that includes film director Christopher Nolan and he's been vocal about his support for the medium lately. I like to think the market... DVD Audio disk- HDMI to my tv, then back to my integrated amp via toslink cable.

I have a Denon DBT 1713UD. If I use a DVD Audio disk- HDMI to my tv, then back to my integrated amp via toslink cable in stereo, is that going to make it lossy and not 96khz? My integrated does not have a HDMI input. Not a huge deal, because I have an sacd player and not too many DVD Audio disks. Just wondering. Thanks ..read more

I looked up the replacement traverse unit for the SA 14S1 and it says it is no longer available. The M30 which is still available has the same item number #31901000500AD. That should be the same thing and is available. I would think they would change the number if it was different. Anybody have an insight on this? Thanks ..read more

I have a Pioneer VSX-935 receiver and, to listen to CDs in stereo, I connected the Sony BDP-S6500 Blu-ray Player to the receiver via the coaxial digital audio input, see image. Then, in the receiver settings, I assigned COAXIAL to the CD input, as the manual recommends it, but even so, the Blu-ray does not communicate with the receiver through this input. Does anyone know what am I doing wrong ..read more

DAC for a Sony BDP-S6500 Blu-ray Player

I usually listen to my CDs and music files (FLAC and DSD) on the Sony BDP-S6500 Blu-ray Player, connected via HDMI to the Pioneer VSX-534 Receiver, and I'm considering replacing the Blu-ray player with a Marantz CD6007 CD Player to perform the same functions (play CDs and music files (FLAC and DSD)). Although the switch seems very advantageous to me, in terms of audio quality (a DEDICATED CD player is expected to play CDs with better quality than a Bluray Player, which plays several formats... Panasonic UB-9000 won't read 4k discs

I've owned my Panasonic UB-9000 for almost 3 years now. It has developed an issue. It won't read 4k discs now. I can eventually get it to read after opening and closing the tray repetitively. It will eventually read the movie after 30 to 45 minutes of trying. And by that point I'm angry. Determined but angry. LoL. It reads Blu-ray movies fine. But 4k discs are the issue. So I absolutely am not buying that this is dust or something on the lens. What is the issue and how can I have... Panasonic UB-9000 won't read 4k discs ..read more

Why a streamer?

I’m curious when I see these Network Streamer components from places like Cambridge or Rose or Naim. They’re usually priced well over $1k and I’m not sure I understand the point. Most modern AVRs or streaming devices like Roku or AppleTV all contain the same apps for Tidal/Qobuz/Spotify/whatever, so what do these devices add and why are they necessary? I guess if you’re running a 2 ch system and don’t have the AVR it might make sense, but even then you can get a Sonos Port for ~ $500 that... Why a streamer ..read more

Essence HDA11 DAC with HDMI Input

I still have a Denon DVD 3910 working on it's second laser. It works great with SACDs and DVD Audio, buy regular cds don't work any more. It's an oldie and not sure how long it will last and not worth putting in another laser. That's all I use it for anyway since I have a Musical Fidelity M1 CDT that's just a cd transport. I use the Musical Fidelity transport straight into my Hegel H190 (Integrated amp with no hdmi input). Anyway, I also have a Denon DBT 1713ud and it might be better to use... I just purchased an Apple 4K 128GB with Ethernet. I want to make sure I connect things correctly to achieve the best quality sound and picture. I have the Denon X4700H, an 85” Samsung QLED Q70A tv, and a 7.2.4 setup. I want to connect the Apple TV with Ethernet, and want to know should I run the Apple TV through the receiver? I’ve never used an external streaming device and have always just used the apps on the tv. I keep reading I need the Apple TV 4K to be able to stream better... Apple 4K Setup ..read more
